What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Hung a set of clearance bin helper springs on the 1996. They did nothing.

I also put a hitch on it this evening. It has a 2.3. ;brownbag;
Well. Aren't you an optimist these days?

I put a hitch on my '97 extended cab 4x2 with 2.3L a few months ago... it has 4.10's but doesn't help... I drug around a 2500lb trailer once around my brothers farm and it was kinda hilarious in tall grass trying to climb a hill... took like 8 tries :). A limited slip and low range for gear selection would have helped a lot, needed more choices than just first...

Dropped it off at the shop for state inspection. Probably won't be cheap. 202,000 miles, shit happens. Last year cost over $3000. Couldn't possibly be as bad this year. At least I know it won't need tires and brakes.

I have to do that next week. The 2011 was due on Monday but I had too much month at the end of my money.

Needs a new steering rack and upper control arms and ball joints. The UCA's are on warranty since I got new ones last year. My mechanic thinks it's the lift kit that fragged them. They're Moogs but the OE ones lasted a lot longer with the lift. Also the emergency brake doesn't work.

Sorry to hear that. Moog isn’t what they used to be. I went with Mevotek heavy duty UCA, ball joints, and tie rod ends with zirc fittings. I guess I’ll find out how good they really are.

Actually I was messaging Todd at the Sport Trac Club last night and he said that several people report that the Mevotek units work well and give a slightly better angle with the lift. I did a little digging and it looks like the shop put on regular Moogs last year but they have Problem Solver UCA's that are a little heavier-duty so I will get those since the old ones are on warranty. The Problem Solvers only cost a few dollars more so I will try to get those and only pay the difference. He said if I keep the lift on to check the ball joints monthly. My least-cost way out of this right now is to leave the lift on it get new Moogs on warranty. If I have to replace them again I will get Mevotek.

Gonna try to finish up my chow/cook box fab work and get paint on it today...

Looks like an ash tray holder, like you see at the entrance to stores.

You haven't been to a store since the mid 90's? :icon_confused:

I know, it's old style from the "olden" times....but you still see em around occasionally.

It's an ash tray... I collect all kinds of advertising junk.

I kinda like the lantern hook too... gonna try to do something a bit different. That is one of the cheap clamp on hooks.... and I mean cheap.

The original discussion has disappeared. IDK.

We need some positive news. What did you do to your Ranger taday?
