It appears that I will be using Ford Explorer Sport Trac seats. They're in good shape. Well, the drive side is. The passenger is still in the donor car cuz I suck at taking seats out.

What universal covers are the best fitting for this sort of thing?

I've heard good things about Clazzio seat covers, and Cover King. If I'm not mistaken, both are made custom for your vehicle (well, not your individual vehicle, but you know what I mean).

I have optimism!

Something will be close and require only some staples and duct tape to make it perfect. Aided by the many different colors of duct tape. (See also: duck tape, cuz water would roll off it like the back of a duck and that duct tape really doesn't work the best for ducts or ducks)

Duck tape isn't all it's quacked up to be.

Besides, any job worth doing is worth doing right. If I was looking for seat covers, and wanted an exact fit, I'd order them custom for my vehicle. If I didn't care, then I'd just go to Walmart and get one of those one size fits all sets.

I actually had someone try to sell me a watch on the street one day in Italy. This was in the mid 80’s. It was just like you imagine. He opened up his coat and had a bunch if watches. He took one out that looked fancy and had diamonds all over it. I kept saying no and he kept persisting. At one point, he said “They are real diamonds.” Then he walked over to the nearest parked car and scratched the window glass with it. I couldn’t believe it. I got away from him as fast as I could, hoping the police hadn’t seen what was going on.
