opportunity to trade for a '99 Jaguar XJ8 4.0l supercharged.

Perhaps more bureaucracy than politics, but meh it is what is....I was just sayin registration is gonna cost $700 bucks because the tags have been expired for a long time. Oh and $50 bucks for a smog check.

Sounds tempting. I like my hot humid summers, and my cold winters.

Now I just have to talk the wife into it.
Cbxer has me sold on it too lol, not his fault, but we had pretty much had the same chat. Seems like an alright place...

Im probably gonna go sniff out the jag and take some pics tomorrow...

My friend has one sitting in sit in his storage yard rn the guy signed the title over after he replaced the transmission and then headgasket blew...... 2 weeks later and the taillights and half the other lights stopped working. My friend thought I worked on so many of these it will be cake and its a Jaaaaag...... Its still sitting there...... 2 years later... . Pass on it.

Unless you plan on dropping a SBF and T5 and A9L and replacing all the wires.... But CA so your screwed anyway....

That's exactly right. CA doesn't care if you didn't drive the vehicle for a year. You own, you pay them, even if it's sittin with the engine out. There was some CA politician, who said something to the effect, "California is a great place to live, it costs a lot to live in a great place". Probably not the exact words, I don't recall who said them any more. I thought it was bs back then, and no, it's not really the great place it was in the 70's when my parents first moved there from NJ.
Wow!!! you guys just moved from Shithole to Shithole

If you end up getting it, send me $500.00. I will then say a blessing everyday for a year, and send you a Minion Bobble Head for the dash.
This will, hopefully, keep any "baddie thingies" from plaguing your Jag.

Truthfully, in the mid/late 70's, CA wasn't bad at all. It was still run by the Republicans and hadn't taken the downhill turn until the late 80's. That's when it started going down, and by the early 90's, ready to leave. Managed to stay until 02 though, because I was working at Northrup Grumman on the B-2 Stealth Bomber program, and I loved that job. Got laid off in November 99, managed to land a job at BAE Systems, but that went after 09/11/01. Moved the next year.

It went downhill when the Feinstein/Boxer/Davis era took over....

Arizona is next...It will be a liberal shithole soon too.

Seems thats what they do, a few guys told me the same thing (swap in a v8) but small block chevys or ls1 nowadays. But I am in CA so I can do none such.

Might hafta pass...I may suggest he tries to sell it out of state...The rust belt seems to appreciate CA cars.

Screw that LS junk. Go Coyote, Voodoo, Hellcat, Demon, or Hellelephant!!!

Or the perfectly acceptable Small Block Windsor, LA Chrysler,

Or go old school like I plan with my Foxbody 408 Cleveland with potentially a centrifugal supercharger.

Kinda off topic but funny u say that....I was daydreaming about a v8 swap in my ranger and what its like having a 302 in it. But I heard the extra weight and mass sort counteracts some of the power gain. Also heard the coyote motors are huge and need a shoehorn.

Then I googled compact high hp engines...and found this

272hp,295 torque out of a lil 2.0 4 banger half the size and weight of a v8, or even my 4.0 for that matter...

This started with thinking how my motorcycle is a 1.0L putting out 160hp.

Sadly, Texas is heading that way too. It's being overrun by ex-Californians. Just like CA, all the really big cities, Austin, Houston, etc. are now blue. It used to be a solidly red state, now it's purple. Likely be blue by the 2024 elections.

My butt itches.

If you absolutely hate the policies and screwed up laws in the state you live in change the way you vote. Don't move to a more friendly state and vote for the same unfriendly policies that exist in the state you came from.
^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^
Many, many, moons ago, North Florida was a normal. After the Cubans released the political prisoners, they came to South Florida. Crime rate went up, it was no longer safe for kids in the neighborhoods. So a lot of people moved to North Florida small towns to get away from the crime. Guess what happened? Crime rates across the state started to rise. It wasn't ALL the political prisoners, some of the crime was being committed by actual citizens. It was just easier to blame the newcomer's for the problems. Instead of voting to make a change in their cities, they moved, and moved the problem with them.
