Need help tire-kicking

I do the same thing with clear flood mode... after reading RonD's starting ritual. I still fill the oil filter.

I started filling the filter with my first SOHC after I changed the oil the first time. On start up... wasn't a tick... more of a rattle. Filling the filter pretty much solved that.

I may begin to experiment with that myself.
I guess the main deterent to it in my case would be I'm always working off the ground, and just getting a filter in there can sometimes be tricky.
In the process of getting on the ground(with an open filter in your hand), getting under the vehicle, getting the filter in front of and above ya, then getting it aligned with the fitting, all without just getting any dirt in it to start with, very tricky sometimes.
Then to add loose oil into that equation , haha, but I still might give it a go

Seems like I always have engines where the filter mounts sideways.

My Cavaliers filter went on from the top... good luck trying to fill that before installing it. I always just use clear flood mode and crank the engine for 10 seconds or so after I change the oil to re-prime it. Unnecessary but what's 10 seconds?

I have truck ramps that make working under the truck much easier. Jack stands are in the garage if I really need them. Depending on what I'm doing, sometimes just busting out the jack stands and being done with it is the way to go.

1/6th of a minute or 3/4 of the cranking time available before you need to let the starter cool off, or 100% of the starter's cool down time.

He's doing something! LOL

Doesn’t part of the Rocky Mountain chain run up through Canada? I think it does.
