PayPal woes

So I got a set of chrome door handles from a guy on the Nissan forum. He sent them before I could pay, said" it's not a problem". got them and payed him with PayPal on Oct.31. Installed the door handles, posted it on Instagram, giving him all credit and accolades for being a stand up guy for fronting the handles until I got$$$. So I log onto the Nissan forum today and he's calling me a rip off artist and that he got scammed. Now on my end, the money is out of my account, but in PayPal, it says "payment Pending". Does anyone here know what I'm supposed to do now. I'm pretty new to PayPal, only getting it so Fastpakr could pay me for a radio bezel. I've used it several time since, but mostly accepting money for things sold on the WEB. I have PayPal linked to my bank account and debit card so why is he NOT getting his money. It's making me look like a crook, and I may be a lot of bad things to certain people, but my daddy did not raise a crook. Any ideas on what my next step could/should be?

Is it possible you sent it to the wrong email address? If it's not a registered account, I think Paypal flags it as pending. That would also prevent him from seeing it.

It is possible, but I used the email address he gave me. Copy and Paste so it can't be spelled wrong? and only one name popped up when I entered it

If the name popped up when you put in the email, that pretty much eliminates that possibility. Not sure. Have you tried taking a screenshot of the pending payment status and sending him that so he can see it?

So he sent me the wrong email address. He just contacted me to let me know, He looked at the screenshot and immediately knew what had happened, he transposed a letter. Now how do I cancel the Pending payment?

well that was nice of him to throw you under the bus for a spelling issue...

what flags me is that:

1. he was cool about sending the parts before payment posted. (hmmm..)
2. you send payment and get a popup with the address, so it sounds like it it is going to a legit address. (hmmmm...)
3. he berates you for not sending him payment, calls you a cheat/ liar whatever.
4. you send him a screenshot of the pending transaction and he says "oh, my bad, I gave you the wrong address" but see point number 2, and it is still pending.
5. so if you send to the corrected address, will he get both payments?

tell him hold on you are sorting it out on your end, and cancel that payment. if it goes through, claim fraud and send paypal all of your screenshots. once you are sure that you are not getting ripped off...send him the payment or it may even be better to send the parts back..

be careful, I can smell this load of crap all the way over in Indiana...

I thought i smelled a rat too. Got on PayPal to figure out how to cancel payment and tried to do so to the first payment. Cant. Apparently its not an accoint at all and will sit in limbo for 30 days. If nobody receives it on the other end, i get a refund. I sent a message to the email and havent got a response yet, so i think i will get my 10 bux back, next month. Dude apologized and said not to worry about the payment at all, but i told him "all the shit i went through, it would be even more dissrespectful NOT to take my payment" and that is about the last thing that was said.
Its odd that a name popped up for the paypal#1 but that money has been there for so long unrecieved. And the email i sent is unanswered and nothing on facebook that i could find. It was a different name than then 2nd one, and kinda wierd. I should have confirmed with him before i sent the 1st payment to verify his name i guess. If the 1st does recieve payment and dont refund me, its on me to do all the legwork to get my $ back. I'm more of a "learn along the way" type anyways.

Sometimes if people have made more errors with other people, you can sometimes also learn a lot by searching their email address and stuff like that. I did ebay and paypal for a number of years, was a power seller on ebay for a number of years, you can run into some real scammers in that mess
Paypal is extremely difficult to deal with these days, I've all but stopped using it. When you do have a problem and try to call you'll be talking to someone in the Philippines who is a decent person and sometimes speaks halfway decent english, but becomes rapidly lost when you have a more complicated situation to discuss
I have one card where it gets a small monthly dividend, never really adds up to much, but I've started using it instead of my regular bank card for internet and phone purchases, places such as ebay

I really didn't either, just threw that stuff in there I guess. When you're dealing online with people you likely don't know that well it's amazing how rapidly things can go south.
