Hey all, been browsing for a while and finally decided to make an account. I've got a 1987 Ford Ranger single cab with a 2.9, manual 4x4 and 5 speed. This truck was my 1st vehicle and I've had it for 3 years this Halloween. Used to daily drive it up until I went to college and parked it. Recently I wanted to get back into after it sat for a year but the fuel pump is toast. Currently in the process of replacing that and hopefully I can daily my old truck again. Eventually I want to restore it. Looking forward to posting more on here!

Welcome to TRS! Always good to see more 1st gen/2.9 trucks around here.

Good looking truck.

Fuel pump is an easy fix. I have a few used good ones here for a 2.9 that I'd happily get rid of.

Easier solution is to replace your frame rail pump with another fuel filter, and your in tank pump with a high volume / high pressure one. Kemso 340 LPH from eBay is a good candidate. 50 bucks and a weekend, and you're good to go.

They are loud as hell, though.

I'm tackling the job of removing the tank right now and I'm kind of stuck. Removing the bed isn't an option since one of the bolts are stuck and I don't have the tools to remove it so tank drop is what I have to do. I've gotten all the bolts out but that rounded off one there and the skid plate seems to be welded in Where I have my pry br pointed at

Any idea how to get it down? And I'll look into that pump you mentioned junkie thanks!

Never mind that welded part. I'm an idiot, there's a nut on top.

Cool truck Jake. Welcome to TRS :)

Thats ok i bent my fuel rail beyond useabilty because i missed 2 bolts. Damn prybars.

Welcome from Georgia. You got yourself a classic. Nice.

Thanks for the warm welcome all! I got the tank out this weekend and I'm looking at that kemso fuel pump to put in it. Probably gonna start a build thread soon.
