Factory backup camera ford emblem

Please clarify, are you saying the tailgate emblems with a camera for the F-150 will also work on my 2011 Ranger XLT?? Crutchfield says NO. I've been trying to find a emblem or handle camera for my Ranger for weeks with no luck. I bought a Pioneer AVH-601EX Head unit but haven't installed it yet because I can't find the camera I need.

I think you misunderstand the parts involved.

There is no camera emblem, there is a camera, and there is an emblem, and they are two separate parts. The emblem itself is the same one as the Ranger uses, but I believe the camera is tapered, making it bigger than the Ranger's spot for the emblem.

The camera is behind the emblem. The camer part makes the whole thing much thicker. Technically it fits with some modificatios but because of how much taller the f150 is and how much farther up the emblem mounts when installed on a ranger your looking at the bumper.

could you shim the bottom or bevel cut the top of the camera mount, to give a better angle.

I'm working on that at the moment. I'm honestly not all that invested though so I'm not trying to hard lol. I got the whole thing for 23 bucks so it was just a spur of the moment buy, and lets be honest.... rangers dont really need backup cameras.

my MIL sucks at backing out of my driveway, i wish she would use her backup camera, she says she doesn't trust it. smh. i tried to explain to her, it came with the safety package she wanted. i think she can't wrap her head around the technology.

My fiesta must have been made like 2 days before they made them mandatory, it has the screen for it but alll it does is show a ford logo when you turn the car on.

My mkx has one but its all screwed up, the parking sensors are messed up and always think your about to hit something and the lines on the screen are always pointing left even when the wheel is straight. Ill fix it when I finally go to sell it. Ironically its broken because my brother in law backed into a light post.

Believe it or not the stupid fiesta is the only car ive ever driven that really needs a backup camera. It may be a matchbox car but the mirrors are useless and its nothing but a roiling blindspot. Luckily its so small you only need to be about 30% accurate to back into a parking spot.

So, is it better to install the handle camera instead? Has anyone modified the stock handle and installed a camera in it?

No way to use the f150 camera handle on a ranger. Just vastly different parts. You could just drill a hole below or above the factory handle and jam a camera lens in it. Though seriously, why go through all the trouble... just stick a license plate frame or cube camera on it. Like I said, im only trying the ford emblem cam because I got it for next to nothing.

Maybe I'm over thinking this. I want to keep the camera as high as I can because I believe driving on salted roads in winter, or dusty roads in summer will quickly coat the lens of a camera mounted lower making it useless. Can anyone who has the license plate camera chime in here on their experience with this?

No matter what, you will probably have to walk past that part of the truck occasionally and wipe the lens clean. That's the price you pay for these modern luxuries. In my experience, it is difficult to detect any real difference in the amount of dust or road grime at the top of the tailgate vs. the amount at the bottom. Filthy is filthy.

The camera on my mkx is really low, right above the license plate. I don't think ive ever cleaned it...

You could also just mount it inside the cab like my rear dash cam. I just stuck it to the back window.
Mine points straight because its made to see the entire road behind me but if you angle the bracket down a bit it would work well for a backup cam.
