My credo
Low range in Nova Scotia on YouTube!
So, 91 ranger xlt, how do I turn off or disconnect the daytime running lights?
I thought there would be a fuse or relay but all I found was the headlight fuse.

I believe there is a small black box drivers side bottom of rad support. It has something to do with drl's. Unplug it and see.

Ummm i didn't know DRL's existed in 1991...

I'm going to take a wild guess that, since in the USA Daytime Running Lights didn't exist on 1991 models (weren't even allowed until 1995), you're in Canada. That being the case, if I'm not mistaken, it's illegal to disconnect them.

I do not think that your ford has day light running lights, mind is 2003 d
Xlt, it does not have daylight running, it has fuse for it , but does not have them , it has auto on light at dark but no day light running lights, in 2015 I was looking for a ford vehicle the 2015 ascape did not have DLRLs with all the other bell and whispers,

He just said its a Canadian feature...

Thanks for the information, I did not know it was a Canadian feature, so I guess you could install them if you had switch or or is it programmed in the vehicle computer??

It's probably built into the GEM to turn the low beams on as soon as the truck starts. Or you could just turn your headlights on during the day since they aren't seperate lights... :dunno:

Generally DRL are not as bright as low beams.

People like the DRL that come on with the key because they go off with the key... and thus don't damage the battery if someone forgets to turn them off.

So how does that work? A voltage reducer for the low beam filament when in drl mode? Or did the canadian trucks have a different grill with seperate lights for the DRLs?

No idea, I know our service truck here at work an my wife's Edge with DRL's are more yellow unless you turn on the real headlights.
