TRS 20th Anniversary Trail Ride - Southington Offroad Park - Ohio

What do you need to make it happen?

I have the harness (truck originally had A/C) evap housing and condensor. Need compressor/belt, lines, evap, drier etc... so I still need quite a bit.

I need to get miles on this thing to get confidence in it.

Fair enough. Thought I had confidence in mine until Saturday...

No need to throw around the H word, I have three days of driving with no A/C and a tent to look forward too once I get there. Think cool thoughts.

Even if the weather is good the buggy is very toasty. Nice warm tranny tunnel and the rear radiator. I'm hoping for a nice cool weekend so it's not too unbearable

That right there reminded me of why I love the old air cooled VW's. Zero... Notta... None... HOT anti-freeze.

Especially in winter...

Not exactly... but I will put my comment in context for you.

Have you ever seen a water cooled tube chassis off road car crash and get upside down? Then heard the agony of it's occupants as they try to get their seat belts off to escape the HOT anti-freeze?

It's mind changing... and confirmed what I already knew.

fahrvergnügen!!

Ryan... please be safe out there.

I have a passenger seat open Will. It's hot and loud in the buggy, but it can be a lot of fun too

That would be awesome. You owe me some misery. Remember when we used a couple come-alongs to slide a truck across the face of a slope when we were out by ourselves in rural Indiana? That was the kind of desperation I learned to love in the Marine Corps.

I'll definitely ride with you and it's in concrete for me right now.

I'm also going to New York around July 15 as my brother-in-law is getting married, finally. It's on Long Island. I'll be around then. My wife is taking the twins (they were in little car seats when I picked you up in the B2 that time) to MIT in Boston, and I will have the 2 youngest girls to haul home. My oldest will be in Sweden, Poland etc. traveling Europe. Could be a time to meet up for dinner.

I know the defroster in my brother's '68 VW was beyond pathetic... pretty much worthless.

That's great, it will be a good ride I think. I'll try and convince you to drive it too at some point.

Of course I remember. That trail wasn't a problem until it was a problem, and I think you got a winch soon after.

You'll be driving back? I'll be in town then and would love to meet

I'll be 2 hours north of NYC near Poughkeepsie on the morning of the 16th. What can we make out of that? I'm heading for I-78.

You'll be passing by me at some point that day

Can I bring the fiesta? :icon_rofl:

It's the only vehicle I own I'd drive that far... It's pretty good on trails I sware!

I would but i hate driving the ranger long distances!!!! Plus i think the fiesta is actually better offroad than my ranger... I had it airborne on some sand trails a couple weeks ago. :shok:

This thing wont make it to 50,000 miles... :icon_rofl:

I actually do wanna come though. Who's willing to let me park my car and ride the trail in their truck? I dont bathe, smoke alot, and if ohio is a carry state im bringing my guns! But I will pay for fuel and I'm an excellent cook.
