Rag Joint Delete

I think I have two u-joints on my 07 steering shaft. But no grease fittings. But the part of the shaft that can slide in and out, has slop. I’m wondering if I should upgrade it or replace it with a new oem one (I think they’re about $300) or just leave it.

Are the u-joints grease-able?

Unfortunately no. The one I put in it is out of a '91 and looks/moves like new, it isn't like they spin very fast.

Might look for a used one? The one I put in has a plastic sleeve on the inner shaft and the bushing between the two ends that take up the slack and look to be replaceable so maybe you could rebuild what you have. Yours has a rack and pinion and is basically a totally different truck than mine steeringwise though.

A little bit of slop isn't a huge deal... until it becomes a lot of slop suddenly or the rudder all of the sudden doesn't answer the helm while at speed. I would do something one way or another before you become an unguided missile.
