Here's what happened to me sunday night

But the focus doesn't give you the undeserved smug sense of self importance that the smart car does! For the true narcissist that is a deal breaker.

It also gets lower gas mileage, but the cost of that is offset by the Smart taking premium fuel.

I see a smartcar and I see the beginnings of an air conditioned lawn mower...

Just gotta wait for them to get cheap...

But can u do a Uturn on a 12' driveway with a Focus?
Besides she just got a custom Purple Paint job because she Luuuvvz Prince and calls it her Purple Raindrop.

Just confirmed. My sister's neighbors got the insurance info, because it was Halloween and she was partying somewhere and didn't come home until the next day. She didn't pay anything.

Probably. My driveway is 15' and if I line it up right I can do a U-turn with my B2.

Her insurance has no interest in handling this quickly. Go through your company, get your money and let your insurance company fight it out with hers for reimbursement.

So far they still haven't got a hold of her. said they have to wait 5 days after trying to reach her which is BS. So they said they can only call her more if I call them. so I am calling them 2-3 times a day. After 4 times of not getting a hold of her then it goes to a specialist. Then I should be able to find out what I want to do. I hate how everything is in limbo until they get her side of the story to figure out liability. Shouldn't the police report credit liability? It's not like I parked my car in the middle of the road or my car jumped out in front of her. Hopefully by the end of today I will know which insurance I am going through.

It sucks she's not getting back to them but I imagine the voicemail system in prison is sketchy at best...

Unfortunately the police's assignment of fault isn't always what the insurance companies go off of, because criminal fault and civil liability are different standards.

It's easy for Officer Barbrady to say "Well she was in your lane, she gets the fine, you don't". But the insurance company then will want to know why she was in your lane. Did you have your high beams on and she couldn't see the line? Was there something wrong with the road? Was her car out of alignment? These are the kinds of games they play.

I agree though, hit a parked car hard enough to do that kind of damage and it should be cut and dry.

My mothers neighbor backed into her a few years ago and the cop wrote the accident report saying both parties were at fault and they had backed into each other. If the insurance went by that she would be screwed. But police are not witnesses and make crap up. My mom's lincoln had one of them fancy pants black boxes that said when, where, and how the accident happened. Most importantly that she was in drive and moving forward when she was hit. The insurance company used that info and disregarded the police report.

Same thing when the tree fell on my car, the cop wrote it up as me running into a fallen tree. But the insurance company was smart enough to ask, " how did your roof get smashed hitting a tree head on? " and got another witness statement. So they threw out that police report as well.

I know its frustrating with such a dumb cut and dry accident like this, just giving examples of why that police report is meaningless to the insurance company and they want real statements. Pretty much any info the insurance company can gather is better than a sloppy hand written note by a guy who wasn't even there, aka a "police report".

You can call your state's insurance commission and file a complaint against her insurance company. THAT will light a fire under their ass.

I had to do that when some kid pulled out of a parking lot and ran into the side of my F150. They (American Family) tried assigning 20% of the blame to me because I "didn't try to avoid the accident"

Long story short I won and got 100% of what I wanted out of the deal but it wouldn't have happened that way had I not complained.
