can my truck drive straight without a sas

i just bought a 94 ranger with an 8 inch lift and 3 inch body lift im running 35s and the frond end sucks im new to fords and didnt think this is what i would be getting into love the truck but it does not drive straight it never stays aligned i looked into things like superlifts superrunner steering but it seems like everything like that only works up to six inches of lift i dont have the time or money to swap in a solid axle anything i can do ?

11 inches of total lift? That's excessive for stock-style suspension.

Put a more reasonable lift (or a more appropriate suspension) on it, and you'll have a much easier time.

It could be, but there are plenty of people running six inches no problem. Makg probably has a good point on a more appropriate lift. Look around, a lot of guys have DD with six inches lift and perfect alignment.

I'm sure you're still running the stock style steering too, that's largely what your problem is. Eliminate that with a modified K-style steering linkage and you'll be in "better" shape.

A slightly better solution would be to drop down to a 6" suspension lift but still use a k-style steering linkage (see: SuperRunner kit)

Perhaps the best solution is a solid axle swap with crossover steering. If you need to be that tall, this may be the only way to do that safely.

You have to pay to play. If you can't afford to pay, then you're going to have to compromise. It's either going to be the poorly handling, hugely lifted truck look that you bought this particular truck for, or a lower truck that you can actually drive on the road, and will likely even perform better offroad.....

Junkie already answered you on the explorer forums. Your steering is largely to blame because 8 inches of lift is absolutely retarded on TTB. Drop it down to 5-6"s and correct your steering and it will drive just fine. 11 inches is way too much for 35s. I've got 34s on a 1st gen with 3" of lift and very minor fender trimming.

well thanks everyone when i bought the truck i thought the lift was too big i actually was looking for a stock ranger but i found this one for a thousand bucks and it only had 90k on the whole truck the body and interior are perfect but it had a busted hub and brake lines and a spring that was so stressed and bent i never seen anything like it i replaced everything and i wanted to avoid getting a whole new lift but i guess its my only choice and probably the cheapest route it is a little too much i used to have a cherokee with three inches of lift and some triming on 33s and i got through everything just fine maybe before i do anything ill drive it over to a local 4x4 shop and see if they could fab something up

someone correct me if im wrong but you dont need a whole new kit, just coils. get the 6in coils, and i think on that kit, somehow you switch mounting holes or something cause one is for 6in of lift and the other is for 8in? and loose a block in the rear if your truck still has the stockers and you should be in much better shape.

I think you are thinking of the Skyjacker 4" and 6" lift. The drop brackets are the same on those, they just have holes for both lifts.


Couldn't you always just drill holes in the drop brackets that are 2 inches higher than they are now?

he has a 8" suspension lift....body lift has NOTHING todo with alingability, however i still would not go anything further then a 6" kit on a ranger after that threshhold it is impossible to get the alingment 100% and get it to stay there....

and people, 11" of lift over stock isnt even that big.

the Skiyjacker 8" IIRC, uses 6" drop brackets and 8" coils, so you should only need new coils.
