Will 14" Wheels from a 2000 Ranger work on a Gen I 2WD (1983)?

Have a chance to pick up 4 wheels and tires from a 2000 Ranger for a good price. Believe the rims are the factory steel wheels (almost certainly from a 2WD). Tires are 225/70/R14 so they should clear just fine.

I know the bolt pattern should be the same on my 1983 2WD, can anybody verify the wheel backspacing from my Gen I to newer trucks? If anything, I'd think the newer caliper is larger, just want to be sure as I am currently running 15" rims and I don't need four more wheels I can't use.

Thanks!

Brian

14s will fit your truck, although I seem to recall '99 was the last year for 14s on any Ranger.

Wheel offsets are pretty much compatible across the whole RBV board, the exception being '02up Explorer wheels (which really aren't RBVs anymore anyway).

The only concern about different wheels fitting is that IIRC, the 14" wheels would not have a hole in the center big enough to fit over a hub on a 4x4 ranger.

Obviously this is not a problem for you. I just wanted to put that out there.

Cool, thanks for the info!

why not? they came with the same 10 hole wheels as the 2wd in the early 90's didnt they?I have a 92 2wd and my neighber has a 90 4x4 and we have the same wheels...or is there a difference between similar wheels im not aware of?
