it is very popular for medium to high strength uses and has great toughness characteristics.

This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to atmospheric conditions and good corrosion resistance to sea water.

Sounds good to me.

It would be hard to get everything to match but anodizing would be a cool finish.

97’s. They make aftermarket steel ones. Easily identified because no matter how new hood shocks won’t hold one up.
