Anyone have a pic of one?

Trying to make one for my '85, I could just wing it going off the several Mustang ones posted online but I would like to keep the format as close to "correct" as possible.

I can't turn up a single pic of one online though. :annoyed:

Are you talking the sticker when buying a vehicle?
It must be, I can't think of any other.
NM.

This is where the alternate meanings of my avatar name comes into play....

I got rustys stashed away....somewhere. If youre not in a big hurry hopefully work dies off a bit in the next week or so i can do some digging.

EDIT-

This is the same style as rustys from 87, im 99.9% sure, this is from a 1990 bronco. Not sure if 85 was different though...

Yeah, I gotta ask that question too. Are you looking for a Monroney label (what Rusty posted) or the green/blue/gold Twin Cities plant sticker?

Rusty 1&2 were both built in louisville, cant help that one :)

Mine is from Louisville too, I don't think they even did stickers back then.

Anyway, yes the window sheet that hung in the window when new. I assumed that it would be the same as a Mustang since in the current day they are all pretty much the same, I have never seen one so I don't know though. Mustang ones are reproduced as blanks.

And I have managed to find two 1985 Mustang ones posted online.

But trucks have options that Mustangs don't, like different cab and bed configs and so on. There are a ton of the red truck window stickers out there like what Rusty posted but they all seem to be 1990+

I can't find anything one way or another from the 80's. For all I can tell trucks may not have even had one.

My truck had an assembly plant sticker in the window a long time ago.

You are looking for a Monroney Label.

Here's one from 1988.

They had window stickers in 85. I actually have the one that was in my 77. I think it was govt mandated in the 60s wasnt it?

Either way, if i had to guess, they pry changed in 86 or 87 to the red style ones, i would figure the mustang/truck ones would be the same basic template

EDIT

This place will make you one for 7.99

Thanks a bunch! That will help a lot with the terminology. :icon_thumby:

An '86 looks like an '85 with a darker oval.

That place was promising, they don't have any data on Fords apparently so they give you a list of options to select and they make it for you.

I have been temped to get a Marti report and see what it says about my special order color and what dealer it originally went to.

This is just a thing for carshows, I am wanting to sub my modifications into it to go with the truck that ford coulda/woulda/shoulda built. Like show the 4bbl 302 5 speed manual trans and all that instead of the 2.8 and A4LD it originally had.

Thats a cool idea, honestly, id just use the blank mustang template, as long as its period correct, and you use a typewriter, or some font similar, no one is going to know the difference.

There are the aforementioned things like chrome bumpers and bed lengths and whatnot that it would be nice to see a real pre 87 sheet to see how it was done originally.

I can go a long ways going off of a Mustang one.

I am going to throw a couple little hints in it so it doesn't look like I am trying to pass off the truck as 100% factory original.

Typewriter is proving to be a glitch. Everyone I knew that had one has dumped them for some reason. :icon_confused:

You wont believe this, but i have one :)

But, the ribbon is out of ink, its not injectable either, and from research they discontinued the cartriidge in 1989 or 92 (depending on source). Its stashed in the storage unit somewhere.

Dunno how it might/might not work for a typewriter ribbon. But a technique we used to use on dotmatrix printer ribbons ought to be worth a try (problem: the ink gets worn off the middle of the ribbon - solution - redistribute the remaining ink):

- in the case of dotmatrix ribbons, we would pop open the cartridge to get access to the stored ribbon, all bunched up at one side of the case. For a typewriter ribbon, hopefully there would be openings on the reel you could access through.
- get a can of WD-40 and spray the snot out of the bunched ribbon, until it is dripping wet (maybe put some newspapers down, or do this outside or over a surface you don't care about)
- put the ribbon/cartridge in a plastic bag and put it away for a week, then take out of the bag and let it air off a couple of days. (this is important - the redistribution of ink takes time, and a too-fresh ribbon will be smudgy!)
- obviously results on a multi-color (eg: red-black) ribbon will be unimpressive!
- you note your cartridge is uninjectible - that could be a dealbreaker - but you could always see if there are openings or a way to open it with gentle force...
