I have an 85 bronco 2. Was told there was two fuel pumps just dropped the tank and there is only a sending unit in the tank auto zone doesn't cary it. Wanting my fuel gauge to work

From what I have gathered that is a piece that has been out of production for many years.
 
Doesn't the '85 us a mechanical pump on engine feeding a carburetor? '86 was a dual pump FI setup.

Yep. All Cologne 2.8s use a pushrod mechanical pump.


I wonder if the sender unit could be fixed. The float itself can be soldered if it has holes and the sending unit is basically just an adjustable resistor.
 
Yes, 2.8 is a mechanical pump mounted on the engine.
The fuel gauge has always been a problem. I puled my sending unit, tested OK - checked lots of stuff and finally found it was a wire from the sender to the gauge - BUT the gauge was still off!

I sent mine to a guy in New York. The fix was pricey, but he did fix it. I'll see if I can locate his information.

If it's just a float problem, you should be able to find something online. The rheostat on the other hand would be the biggest challenge.
