you own anything rare?

cool stuff in this thread

handed down by my grandfather:
shaving straight razors. one has an ivory handle, the other has all the presidents, and stops at Buchanan. both in original cardboard cases. lots of other old knifes, like a case xx with an original bent wire handle. and some weird german knife called an "okapi"

and tons of old money from other countries (is a canadian penny with georgivus instead of elizabeth rare?)

i also have an old boat motor that has the rope you wrap around the top to start it.

i have an 84 bronco II eddie bauer with manual windows, locks, hubs, transfer case, transmission (4 speed), and no a/c. but it has the power lumbar seats. never seen another "base" "eddie bauer"

1971 "pistol" pete marivich Topps basketball card

I have a friend with a horizontal 2-cylinder like that one. He also has a 90hp 4060 or something, from the 60's. It has dual rears and I've used it to pull a disc. Pretty amazing how much power that 90hp is when you are using it to bust up an 18' wide path of soil. Those are king-sized horsepower. Hearing protection required.

I'm used to driving a skidsteer so when I get on the little dozer it's not instinctive yet. It has a 4-speed and a clutch where you expect it. Then, each side has a brake and a clutch of it's own. If you pull back on one side it first releases the clutch for that side and lets the other side pass it. If you pull it back all the way it also engages the brake and lets it pivot. The brake pedal engages both brakes.

It is geared extremely low. The regular M has a 12mph top speed and the MC has a 4.9mph top speed in fourth gear. The pull difference between the M and the MC is incredible. The MC is able to pull with 4,300# of force and the M only 2,300#--and that is with 700# of tire ballast and iron on the M and no added weight on the MC, though the MC is still heavier than the weighted M by about 300#.

i cant really think of anything i have thats rare,

my grandpa is like a genious, hes a pastor, and has all kinds of rare antiques and stuff, he used to go out with metal detectors and stuff, he has buckets full of civil war bullets (used and still in prime condition) that he found along with guns, helmets from world war I (things are dam heavy and uncomfortable), cannon balls, all this stuff just out in his garage, also another guy from same side of family was knighted by queen of england back in the day

if you have ever heard of Stone Mountain you know its a huge rock in georiga, like a mountain and on the side is chiseled 3 men from our history, stonewall jackson, jefferson davis and robert e lee the sculpture is the largest relief sculpture in the world, carving started in 1915 and didnt finish till 1972 (people kept quitting because it was to much of a task) the carved surface measures 3 acres, and one of the men is a family member of mine...

He was good when the union had bad generals. Once playtime was over and the union equipped itself with generals that understood total war as opposed to chivalric battlefield skirmishes, no general would have been good enough to hold back the tide. I believe though that Lee was getting tired and some of his blunders were caused by the mental fatigue.

My great, great grandmother was a girl when Augusta was taken and told my grandma stories about hiding with their livestock in the swamp. Their slaves left to follow the union army and they lost their farm at some point. They were Scarboroughs and their plantation house is still standing in Augusta.

He actually wanted to be on the Union's side, but felt obligated to defend his home state (Virginia) when it came time to pick sides.

South was done from the start, they just didn't have the resources (mining, manufacturing...) Once the US woke up and got rolling it was all downhill.

I have a relative back in the Civil war too, but he was on the Union side.

I have a Browning A 2000 12 gauge that I love. It's a 32" barrell that is perfect for duck hunting. I also have a much less rare Ithaca Model 37 Featherweight 20 gauge. That old girl has shot more ducks than I can imagine. Other than that I have a few very old Snap On and Proto tools that my dad gave me. If they have any real collector value I don't know. Their value to me is in the fact he and I used them together to fix many of the cars and pieces of farm equipment that shaped my upbringing.

if the confederates had the same amounts of men as the union, the north would not have even had a chance,

another thing i own, its not really rare, but they arent around much and built right, i used to be big into potato guns, had one that was airpowered and shot golfballs 300yards, one for tennis balls, and my favorite and current, it stands 6ft tall, has direct propane injection, and will shoot a potato 250+yards, and put the tater through 1/2" Plywood at 100ft away, it has a metering system that fills chamer to 4% Propane rest oxygen, for the best combustion, if you havent looked into it, guys who build these things are crazy, building hybrids that will shoot a golfball over a 1/4 mile and can break the sound barrier, if your interested check out spudfiles.com, you can look at other guns and stuff, combustion, pneamatic, hybrid, and you can even make your own automatic bbgun out of pvc pipe, shooting hundreds of rounds a minute... heres my gun, before i changed to a smaller barrel and cleaned her up, havent shot it in a while...

this pic shows my big boy gun while it still had a 2.5" barrel for tennis balls, and my air powered which shoots golfballs

the guns stock was the actual chamber, the bottom of the T fitting was plugged so air filled from their to the back of the sprinkler valve, then when u pulled the blowgun's trigger, it opens valve and shoots a marbe/aaa battery like a bitch

oh my god.....that is completely the most awesomest thing Ive ever heard of,

you ROCK!!!

That should be a major deciding factor before going to war with somebody... Japan and Germany have the same excuse. If they had more people they would have easily won... well they didn't so they lost.

A buddy of mine has 4 or 5, just hair spray powered. I wanted to build a marble shooter for a while, but that never happened. We did build one that was 10 ft and can shoot a small wine bottle a few hundred feet.... More if you angle it up :woot:.
