I cant find where to buy the torsen unit for 1998+ SLA Dana 35 Rangers. Ive checked over Explorer sites and Ranger sites. Plenty of information on the fact that the unit exists but no direction in where to purchase. Checked all the usual places I buy gears, and related parts from and none have a listing. Most list the Ranger as Dana super 30 which is wrong altogether.

Im picking up a 2003 Ranger and would like to have a Torsen unit in the front before winter really sets in.

Thank you

They are available directly from the company that makes the Torsen. That company is; JTEKT Torsen North America, Inc. You can buy them online at their website.

@ gw33gp
Do you have an active link?
I tried www.torsen.com after a search for the company you posted and it timed out twice for me.
tia,

Thanks for the quick help guys. I put a call into JTEKT as I could not find an actual product listing on the website related to JTEKT Torsen North America. Im hoping to hear back soon as the representative couldnt source the one for the Ranger/Explorer D35.

I from lack of research on my part was under the assumption the carrier from any Dana 35 would fit. I held onto a D35 truetrac I had in a TTB. Finding out now that the SLA designed D35 has a smaller carrier.:bawling:

If this torsen thing doesnt work out ill be heading south like I originally wanted and pick me up a nice rot free TTB Ranger again.

I was looking at these earlier today. Seems like a great little unit but they're a real pain to get in canada. The last guy that tried ended up paying nearly $200 in shipping after ups was done with their BS fees.

Sorry to necro this thread, but interested to know if anyone has anything else to contribute. I'm looking for a freebie front end to rip apart and start doing some measuring. Anyone ever tried to machine a standard D35 carrier to work?

No, but I added extra side gear shims to a d-28 to get posi. I didn't like it in snow in off-camber situations. Great for straight ahead. Also did that to a 9".

They have a new website and the link TONGIERANGERBOYS posted is good.

or you could scroll down a few threads to find:

torsen for front 98

standard D35 carriers way different than front 98+ so-called D35.
10 holes vs only 8, overall about an inch difference in width.
