My wife just took my truck to a transmission place. Im out on deployment and i need some quotes for my tranny. Well this one place wants $1950 for a full rebuild, replace all seals, and re gear it with 410's. Is the re gear necessary with 32" tires? The guy said there is also a 3 year/30,000 mile warranty on his work. Is this a good deal or should I go somewhere else?

Truck Info:

1999 Ranger 4x4 3.0L
119,000 miles
32" tires.

Thank You for your time and input.

What's up shipmate? Didn't want ta leave ya hangin', so I'll give this a shot:
that doesn't sound like a terrible deal to me, and 4.10's couldn't hurt either (except maybe on fuel; nah, not too bad), anyway if you/she's gotta do it, ya gotta do it.
BTW: is it a local shop? I had a C6 rebuilt at AAMCO a few years ago, cost me about $2500, but then again I'm kind of (a) D.I.N.K.
Anyway, hopefully some one else will roger-up on this...
oh yeah, and I luv (.)(.)'s too!

All right. sounds good. I think we are just going to wait until i get home at the end of this month.

Yes, its a local shop, the owner is giving my wife a discount for me being active and all.

You prior Navy? If so where were you stationed?
PM me if you would like.

Wow, that includes regearing front and rear? That's an amazing deal. The last (and final) time I had my 4R44E rebuilt I paid $2500.

Actually, I did 4 in the Corps, but I spent 4 mos. on the Essex in... '02-'03, basically just did the 'ol Okinawa 500, haha. I worked in the ship store, and had laundry detail for awhile too (after I pissed off my Platoon Sergeant). Anyways good luck, and hope you get home safe and sound.
