While doing a brake job on my 94 Ranger, noticed that it had 10"brakes . Does this indicate a L/S? How do I know what type of diff.I have? Much thanks in advance.

I don't know if 10" brakes would indicate a LSD but you could check the door sticker and cross reference the axle code with an online decoder. I believe there is a decoder in the tech section too.
Good luck,

Richard

What size brakes is determined by the weight only, not motor or axle size. 4580 GVWR is the break point.

Except that you will never see 9" brakes on an 8.8. You do sometimes see 10" on a 7.5 though it's pretty rare before 2000.

Pop the cover, I had a 93 that was mismatched by the PO.

X2 on this. I have a '93 4.0L STX supercab 4x4 on 31s. It has an 8.8" rear with 10" drums but the diff has 3.21 gears and is open.:bawling:
Now I'm looking at reagearing both axles as this ratio sucks, especially when I'm used to a Jeep JK with 4.88s and 37s. Going 4.56s and 33s...:icon_thumby:

Strange then that every first gen 4x4 I've ever seen (yes even a 2.3 truck) had 10" brakes on a 7.5"
