I caught a few sales at the PULL-A-PART while I was on my way across town.

:bawling: all of the '80s Rangers/Broncos were GONE :bawling:

But............

Got a bigger coolant overflow tank----HOTTT Loo-z-anna summers!

Got a new cover/lid for the firewall fuse box--snap was broken on old lid.

Read a lot of posts about rear sway bars & how much better the vehicle handles with one installed.....

So......I got one....it's a OEM complete bolt-on unit! :yahoo:

No need to weld brackets onto axle tubes....the brackets are u-clamped with OEM clamps ....

Pics at Ten.......errrrrrrrrrrrrr...need to clean it up first...pics tomorrow!

It's tomorrow...........................

close-up of engineering genius (no need to buy/fab/cut off don or brackets....these babies cxlamp on....

That looks like a 1" rear bar, good score!

Richard

Yep...there were several shapes/sizes to choose from.....

also........me being a rookie when it comes to good decisions---I decided on the set-up that

BOLTED ON :yahoo:

TODAY/MONDAY..........FINALLY GOT THE ENRGY TO INSTALL THE REAR SWAYBAR......

I used the mechanical finger to get the upper link bolt between the frame & the gas tank....

The driver's side link is bolted to the frame and swaybar.....

The passenger's side link is bolted to the frame & swaybar.....

Ooooooops...the passenger's side lower shock mount is in the way of the swaybar axle-bracket......

No problem......removed lower shock bracket.............

The shock bracket has been moved outboard 2" and rewelded to axle housing......

The shock now clears the swaybar & the frame too.......I tightened both swaybar mounting clamps to the axle housing and everything looks good...I'll take it for a spin tomorrow......

TUESDAY..............the ride is a lot firmer....but not stiff....

the truck doesn't do the "wobble" any more when turning into parking lots with curbs....

it takes curves now with very little body roll (before, I had to slow down around curves)......

I LIIIIIKE IT!

Nice job, you'll be hitting the road course with the BMW's before you know it.

That's strange, I didn't encounter any interference when I put the same bar on my 84. Did you move the shock mounts during your build? For that matter, are you even still using a Ranger axle?

Now I'm going to have to take look at the 84 tomorrow see if I can spot the difference. That's alright needed to pull that bar off any way so I can install it on the 86, hopefully it'll clear with the custom shock mounting I have in mind. For that matter hopefully the brackets I have will fit the Explorer 8.8 axle.

This thing is amazing, I didn't read it all but WoW!

If you're in a hurry my advice is to just look at the pictures, when you find a pic that interests you read the thread. You can speed things up a lot by skipping every other page and ignoring all posts with a hyenna (which is about half of them). That said if you want the full enjoyment of the thread, take the time to read the whole thing. It's worth the read when you can find the time.

I got the 1" swaybar off a 1990 Bronco.....

My Ranger still has the 7.5" rear end (with a custom 1-piece drive shaft)

the passenger hock mount was OEM.....this is the 1st time it's been moved....

yep.....just look at the pics & read the same post....

some of the members were hijacking my thread so much that I had trouble posting on it :icon_rofl:

Anybody remember this interior?
