OIL PAN not clearing wishbone bracket 302 swap!

i have the pan that is sopose to fit this swap the truck is a 1987 ranger ext cab and doing a 302 swap but the wishbone bracket holding the passenger side together is letting it notslide in and down. its too long front to back to let the pan go in... as you can see in the pics. Puzzled because these are all the parts for the swap. Please help I don't know where to go from here

What is that pan from?

Does the engine ABSOLUTELY need to sit that low? I had to set my engine a little higher than normal.........

which works out great----if I EVER need to do any bottom-end work on the engine----the oil pan will practically drop out when the pan bolts are removed!!!!!!
 
That is an aftermarket high capacity pan. It does not have the rounded corners that the Mustang, etc pans have. Either fit some spacers somehow to lift the motor or get the correct stock pan.

which pan did you use?
 
cut and invert the corner. if it has a stock type pickup cut it right where it has about 1/4 clearance. if it has the extended pickup you can go an inch past.


you have to do stock pans that way too, thats where i like to put the engines as well.

if you look at the corner, the cut and turn on the pan is done on this, you can see how it will clear a stock bracket.

I welded up a stock Mustang pan to clear my girdle on the 347 I have sitting here just because I'm afraid many after market pans would not clear.

Chrome Ford Racing pan on the 5.0 in there now BTW.
