D35 TTB with Limited Slip Carrier from D35 Jeep Rear?

I have seen some threads about it on a google search but havnt found any concrete info. I want limited slip in my front D35 TTB to match my 31 spline LS 8.8 in the rear...

Can it be done? Can anybody let me know exactly what to look for?
 
You got it. Trac-Lock carrier from a Jeep D35 rearend will fit the TTB D35.

There's also the Detroit TrueTrac available too.
 
The detroit one looks expensiveI and isn't it more like a locker? I want to try to pull this out of some junk rear. Haha Does it need to be a curtain gear ratio? I want to be able to put 4.56 or 4.88 on it.

I heard that the d35 jeep rears are all not the same and some carriers fit and some dont.

Any info on that?
 
I don't have any info specifically to what you asked but....
I have done a poorman's posi on a 9" and a d-28. Fairly simple, add an extra side gear shim. I bought a shim pack for the individual pumpkin and used the thickest I could get to fit. It does add stress to the spiders and will probably wear out fairly quick but is quick and cheap, only costing new oil and the shim pack, and you can use used shims to save that money as well. Both have worked for me, and the b-II is great for a cheap wheeler. I don't know how good this would do for a rock crawler but for general duty is great.

i had one in my camaro, as far as LS goes. it can't be beat

There's a "Detroit locker" which is an actual locker. Functions like a lunchbox locker (aussie, lockrite) but on steroids.

There's a "Detroit Tru-Trac", which is a very nice indeed limited slip.

The carrier you need is for 3.55 and numerically higher rear ratios.

I am a little concerned how much stress it would be on the hubs and shafts.

Locker = A lot. But you get maximum traction.

L/S = Increased stress, the possibility of breaking a part. Certainly increased traction over an open diff, but only if you have both wheels on the ground.
 
I have been mulling this around in case I happen apoun a D35.

A lunchbox would be nice because you don't have to mess with gear setup. On the flipside it is harder on everything and isn't quite as nice to drive.

The limited slip would be nicer to drive but you have have the gears set up.

I don't intend to have a tire off the ground, mainly for mud and snow.

I don't think it will last long with a locker...

Im also not worried about messing with the gears because I have to install the 4.88 or 4.56 (not sure yet) anyways.

Keep an eye on cherokee forums. They go through terdy fives like crazy. A buddy blew his on 31's with a worn out 4cyl and it was open.

Allot of guys put lsd's or lockers in cherokees then loose a shaft or r&p so they upgrade. The funny thing is most go for an 8.8.

Naxja is a good place to look

My cousin went through like 3 of them before we upgraded to the 8.8....

But none of them are limited slip.

And we never lost 1 shaft on 33's, The axles just got so loud we were scared to keep driving it because we didn't wanna get stuck deep in the woods....

I don't think a limited slip will offer you much advantage over an open differential in that situation.

I know the limited slip rear diff in my cousins jeep that we swaped into it made a he'll of a difference.

And when I say tires off ground I mean jumping the truck. I don't think I can flex this thing enough to get tires off ground... it has 17ish" travel up front....

Ah ha, that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

We were referring to trying to climb over an obstacle at low speeds, as in the truck is all twisted up crawling through a valley.

If you've already got your front end built and is holding up, then go for it.

A L/S will last a bit longer in any situation than a locker, because if one wheel is bound up the power still has somewhere to go.
