Ok so for my v8 swap i picked up an M5OD-R2 and t case from an 02 v6 f150. I come to find out the t case doesnt use a speedo gear. The 97 and 98 do use a type of gear though, will the type of gear used in the later model bw4406 work with the speedo cable on my 85?

The type i want to know if will work is a transfer case like the one in the pic below. From the factory it uses a gear attached to a sensor, will it work if i take out the sensor and put my speedo cable in it? I put this here hoping one of the ford techs or very knowledgable members will see it.

I would think you should at least be able to swap your existing cable-style sensor unit onto the R2's gear and make it work that way.

Neither my t case and the transmission use the gear stout sensor, I have found a thread on another site on converting my t case to a gear one instead of a magnetic style, just didn't know if my speedo cable would be capable of working with the style of gear that the t case in the pic uses.

Sent from, wait how did this get here?

He meant the sensor that runs your cable speedometer. It is still a sensor, just not electronic.

I guess I don't understand.

Ok, so i looked at the gear on my truck and i had no idea it had one that looks like the one in the pic, but with a cable attached to the back, so i am pretty confident it will work, i just need to get the gear that is on the tail shaft of the t case as i couldn't get the one off at the junk yard.

I need the maroon colored gear in this pic
