School shooting in CT.

AAAAHAAAAA.....school administrators with tazers/principal-V.P-Office workers-Janiotors....less dangerous than bullets flying everywhere! Aim for the face arms legs to avoid hitting a protective vest!

Somebody e-mail the President about this!

Pass this law today....good thinking Men!!!

I like my drunken friends---but I despize drunk drivers....

Lets install a Tazer in the driver's seat of any person found guilty of drunk driving---
they blow into the toxology tube/ZAP in the ASS if their drunk/by the time they clean the feces outta their underwear...
they'll be sober and able to drive safely....that'll save another 20,000 children a year!!!!

Truthfully im tired of hearing about this, its tragic and all but you cant even watch the news anymore alls you hear is stuff about the shooting, shooting, shooting, weather, shooting and guess what more shooting news. Yeah it was a sad day but get over it seriously.

i agree on arming the teachers, it wont eliminate but would help drastically imo.
I little sign on each door that reads "Our Teachers Carry Concealed" Would go a long ways IMHO

I completely understand your disgust with all the media hype!

But for those of us whose friends/loved ones....including my son....have been murderd/killed senselessly....it's not that easy to get over.

OK...we clean up the schools and...guess what? They start hitting other public venues...pretty soon pizza store workers, cashiers, gas jockeys, amusement park (watch this space) workers and every body will be armed to the teeth...

I was actually shocked when I visited a Domino's Pizza in Florida because they had bullet proof glass all around the inside of the store...and you had to be buzzed in to buy a slice of pizza...when I asked the guy what was up with that he said "11 robberies in the last month..."

Ugh...just have to watch and see how this pans out...

I think the schools should install panic doors that close when triggered. You could even make it so they lock people in the hall ways. I don't like the idea of teachers carrying guns. I've known to many unstable teachers. I think that could go the wrong way in a hurry. It seems like a lot of the mass shooting are done by mentally ill people. I'd prefer stricter access for mentally ill people.

You definitely have a point Mark. In Baltimore City it seems these days that every convenience store, bank branch, and restaurant has everything glassed up. It has seemingly been that way forever now. Recently I have seen such practices in businesses outside the city, where I had not seen them before. There is a convenience type store around the corner from my house. We used to just call it the corner store. The same man owned it from well before I was born (nice man, I got to know him as I grew up) until he was murdered at the age of 75, allegedly over less than $12. Since that day the store has been through several owners, most of whom got tired of the robberies and finally sold the place. What are the locals supposed to think?

I have lived i my neighborhood for 24 years. I was lucky to have some good influences when I was younger, and I feel I should return the favor by doing right by the younger generation currently living in my neighborhood. I caught a young fellow (14-15yrs old I would guess) stealing a full gas can from a neighbors' porch the other week. I confronted him at his house and gave him a decent scare, but ultimately ended up giving him my basketball because he didn't have one and giving him a good talking to. He's a good kid, I think, but he strayed from the path of "goodness," I guess you could say. Either way, I hope he has at least a chance of being a better person on account of knowing me. I know that has been my case. There are many people I must thank for making me who I am today, and I hope I can pass on most of what they taught me.

Not where we group our children, though. Nothing sadder than a tiny little coffin. Besides that, guns are outlawed at schools. When I go in for any reason, I have to lock my gun in the car. A few years ago in Indiana, you couldn't even pick your child up at school with a gun in your car.

I said arm the principals and select teachers, not every teacher.

It will never happen though...

There is a very scary anti-gun mob mentality on a roll right now, I am amazed at how the actions of a few is going to effect the lives of millions. They have blown smoke before, they took off and ran with it this time.

They can try and take my guns but I WILL NOT go down without a fight. They can have my ammo 1 round at a time.

Now hoosier.....by the time the media isolates you (before the tanks move in) they'll have you looking like another Wacko from Waco!

I still like one member's suggestion of screening/training/arming school administrators with Tazers.....

after all....we have to realize that not everyone is willing/emotionally able to kill another person...no matter how much the aggressor deserves it!

But I will give you a fact that you can draw conclusions from: On a busy day in Nam, one doorgunner would go thru 3,000 rounds of M-60 ammo/300 rounds of M-16 ammo/30 rounds of .38 pistol ammo (sometimes BEFORE Noon)....the rest of the day we (both doorgunners)were out of ammunition. In other words, stock up on food/water/other "necessities".

I hope it works out that way for both of you. There are probably thousands of kids just like him who need guidance that they are not getting in school or especially at home where it should come from.

I was a martial arts teacher for a long time and about 70% of my students were under 16. I was actually making an impact on their lives by the reports I got back from their parents. "Such a big improvement in his/her performance both in school and outside..." was pretty much what I heard from them, and I kept an open-door policy with parents at all times.

There were many rough spots, but with over 1,000 kids that is to be expected. These kids were mostly middle class with a few from the upper echelons of society. I rarely dealt with the lower class except on special teaching assignments at public schools.

I would go in for a semester session as part of their Phys Ed courses. This was where I saw a big difference in parenting influences and attitudes. But, then again, these were mostly high school kids with huge egos and hormones running rampant. They were challenge but I usually had them worked out after a few sessions.

Yes, point taken on that. And someone else mentioned whackos getting into these positions and abusing that trust. Less likely to happen but still possible.

Amusement parks...mostly designed to attract kids...and mostly are wide open with very little in the way of armed guards. Haven't been to one in decades so I have no idea if that has changed for the worse/better.

It would be a sad day in North America when we live in fear of doing our day to day business and have to look over our shoulders and constantly scan crowds for unusual situations. Since living in Toronto where we had more than enough violence for my liking, I've been overly cautious to the point that I don't like crowds any more.

Too many variables...too many opportunities to end up in a compromised situation...too much stupidity...

I like the prior post with the self locking doors. Magnetic locks and magnetic releases. Something like having panic buttons...Press a button...and all the doors swing close and lock tight! And for good measure--Only the police/fire/key security personal at the school has the release codes.

The ideal would be a manned booth buzzing people in and out. Set up a "man trap" foyer where outsiders could be admitted then have the door lock behind him. From there , it is a judgment call to admit the person. But care must be taken not to create a situation that could impede a fire exit. Yah , we'll suck it up and go on. A lot of towns have seniors directing traffic when a school lets out. Get the local veterans agent to suggest a few ex military for shepherds.

Realistically, I see this as an erosion of society. Things like this don't get fixed easily. Yah , if the magazine size is limited to 6 shots, it takes all the cool factor out of the gun. Yada, yada, yada. I want a society where the thought to slaughter innocents would never occur to anyone. Silly old man. I am. We have to start treating each other better. :dunno:
