Or use Jeff Fox worthy definition and example....

"A glorious absence of sophistication."

You might be a red neck if the tires on your truck cost more then the truck.

In my situation, it's true. I paid 600 for the tires. The truck was bought for 500 almost 12 years ago.

And to me..... while I agree that's pretty funny..... I wouldn't want someone suggesting my ideas and build lack sophistication.

bubba truck/redneck/jethro mobile/hillbilly truck/contraption.

all words i heard in the last ten days.

"thats not safe" or "is that legal?" or "is that safe?" i hear every day.

:dunno:

I saw in the other thread that someone mentioned changing the name to budget truck of the month, or BTOTM. Redneck just isnt the best way to put it imo.

:iamwithstupid: if you are going to do it... and I also vote to keep it RBV based.

I'm with Sno on this one. If I say something is Redneck, I'm making fun of it. When I hear "Redneck Ranger", the first truck I think of is that red Ranger that the Jammer kid drove. Why would we celebrate that? I believe most people feel the same way about the term Redneck.

I'm for making a budget build or budget modification TOTM, but I personally would be offended if someone called my truck a Redneck Truck.

Just my .02

Same here, even in the middle of redneck land... I would just as soon nobody call my truck a redneck truck. :icon_thumby:

I still don't know how valid it really is though, you go through the galleries and there is quite a run of different budgets that have already brought home the gold. It isn't like if you did a good job that people approve of it isn't like you are not eligable to win if you did it on a budget. IMO it should almost count like bonus points.

That doesn't take much, tires are expensive if you buy them new and are still painful to buy used.

It is hard to find a new offroad tire for much less than $200 a pop anymore, lots of guys pay less than $800 for their trucks.

The rear tires on my tractor are worth $500 apiece to buy them new... dad bought it for $25 30 years ago :D

so no.....redneck or ugly truck is not offensive to me.

redneck/hillbilly are not offensive to me.

what people consider or rather where i am from "who" people consider rednecks and hillbillies turned out to be the nicest yet rugged stand alone responsible people i know, that care about and help others when they can.

they get by with what they can resource themselves....of course getting by is usually far from high-style.....but the job gets done.

if the job gets done working with what you got or can trade for....thats success in my eyes.

asking where ellie-may and granny are dont bug me at all...

People that all that ask that, i tell them hop in and let's take a drive.

I'll take any of those names for my truck, words have yet to hurt it. I'm glad to have my truck called redneck. The only thing mine is missing is the dogs in the bed.

Do you have any solo cups back there? Indian bead seat covers? Because two solo cups and some indian bead seat covers cancel out the need for a couple dogs.

Usually the "redneck" guys I am thinking of are more posers than anything. Stacked blocks, oversize and overwide AT tires, trucknuts, excessivly loud floppy exhaust, Confederate flag(s), big window decals... more flash than bang. Usually kids with too much money, late teens/early 20's.

They are usually are not driving the trucks that make you nervous to get into only to find that despite outward appearances they have a purpose, and usually those guys would rather not be called redneck... they usually are more modest than that.

That is how it goes in my neck of the woods anyway...

redneck is something to be proud of. we are some of the most innovative smart people on the planet. were the kind of people who can make almost anything out of almost nothing. we can survive with a shoelace and a pocketknife and we don't whine when we get hurt, our first aid kits consist of super glue and duct tape and if you can't fix yourself with one of the two you don't deserve to call yourself a redneck. rednecks are some of the last remaining real men, we don't compromise, we don't wear pink, we don't have sensitive sides, and we sure as hell don't give up. redneck is a compliment. remember yankees this is just halftime

I'm far from stacked blocks, over kill tires, etc.... My truck looks scary but isn't.

I actually use those items as first aid and have both in my truck.

Yes I'm born and raised in the north but have always loved alot of things from the south and would love to spend a few weeks down there.

The OP wants to call it REDNECK truck of the month.... That right there means its redneck.

Ditch the redneck part. Call it Daily driver of the month, Budget build OTM, etc.

Is anyone truly proud to fit this description??? Is this how we want the site to be seen by newcomers, as a bunch of hillbilly rednecks????

that's literally exactly what i suggested, and i got shot down for it.

redneck means you don't know half of the english language, you're married to your sister, live in a trailer, missing half your teeth, pot bellied, poorly dressed, living on welfare yet your a republican etc. calling anyone or anything "redneck" definately is not a compliment.

Is this really how we want to portray this site?
