Yup, and since order of operations is parenthesis, multiply/divide, and then add or subtract, all the "x 0" does is remove the last 5, the rest of the equation stands as is.

As a I am a lover of math, trigonometry, calculus and pythagoras theories there is no reason not to love any math puzzle.

Just following BEDMAS order of operation, you multiply the 5x0 first, so that the equation changes to:

5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 0 = ?

The final answer is then 15

Loved it. I solved it first. Anymore neat math puzzles, Bro?

Sorry if I got you confused. You are right about PEDMAS. As you know there are acronyms to help us remember how to perform a set of procedure in math. BEDMAS or PEDMAS is one of them. BEDMAS is an acronym to help us remember an order of operations in algebra basics.

OK, this isn't a puzzle but rather a problem that needs solved correctly. It's an actual set of numbers from an engine.

the basic situation is how much pressure is exerted on a piston stop bracket when torquing the crankshaft bolt.



Data facts: stroke of crankshaft = 80mm/3.1496"
force applied to crankshaft = 200 Lbs/ft

there are 3 seperate stops applied to the piston, (hence this is actually 3 problems).




the first stop would contact & halt the piston when the crank is at 90 degrees before top-dead-center.


the second at 45 degrees before TDC



the third at 10 degrees before TDC



That 3rd stop is the one I'm really interested in.

BONUS, a fourth stop is applied that has the piston stopped 1/2" below TDC, not sure on the crank angle, only the distance from TDC is known.


I would expect the last one to be in the Thousands of pounds.

My math is a bit rusty, How rusty? Back when I was in HS we used slide rules in chemistry class.
