FM146 to M5OD-R1 shifter boot/bezel question.

Well I pulled the bezel, shift boots and floor plate out today. I needed the bezel for a template and pulled the floor plate to Peel-&-Seal it and to check the shift plugs because I did not know about them when I did the M5OD swap and wanted to see if they where leaking.

I found freeze plugs, which reinforces my suspicion that it has been rebuilt. Good thing since the truck it came out of had over 200,000 on it.

You need one like I have. Good luck finding one..

Diamond plate aluminum. I also insulated the back side of it and the floor plate.
It stays nice and cool.

I used a metal pipe strap and small bolts to secure the boots to the backside of the plate. It's a little gaudy, but it looks ok to me.

That doesn't look bad.
I've seen worse. :icon_rofl:

It might look better with some flat black paint.

I also have an 89 Ranger 2.9l with a manual 1350 transfer case and swapped in a Mazda M5OD R-1 trans. TRS member AllanD found me a correct boot/bezel (used part) and it actually screwed right into the existing holes in the floor pan. If I remember correctly there were zero mods needed to install the boot/bezel. Check with AllanD; he may know where another one is. ( at the time they were listed in the LMC catalog for $240 but I could not afford that much.) Good luck.

I paid 45$ for the one in the picture above.

Looks good dude! I don't care for shiny stuff cuz it's just more stuff to reflect sunlight into your eyes so I paint all my interior flat black. I like it though!

Looks good I have the same problem can anyone walk me through the steps to make the plate and how to cut the floor in the proper spot and find the distance for the shifters? please
