are there any kits that convert the stock headlight bulbs and stuff into a halo or hid kit, where i can still use my factory headlights?

Any legal ones? No. There is quite a bit of discussion on this in the lighting section. Basically if the vehicle didn't come stock with HID it's illegal to put them in.

well i dont really care about that, where i live it wouldnt matter, just looking for better lighting options, need something brighter.

The best, cheapest, and easiest option is to just add some auxiliary lighting.

Then you do NOT want HID's. Just get new bulbs, sylvania bulbs or something decent. Putting HID's into a housing that was not designed specifically for that specific HID bulb (they're all vastly different) will result in LESS illuminated distance than say, stock projector headlights. See, HID's light with an arc, not a filament, and this arc is in a different spot on the bulb, and thus it reflects different inside the housing, and you end up with awesome illumination up close, and terrible lighting far away. That, and you're sending the light everywhere - so oncoming traffic gets a nice bright blinding glare as they get closer and pass by. If aftermarket bulbs don't give out enough light, then you need to see an eye doctor about what you can do to improve your night vision.

And as stated before, it is federally illegal to install any headlight setup that is different from the factory headlight setup mechanically. This even goes for applications where HID's were an option. Say you have a base model, and the high trim level gets HID's - you can't swap even though it's a proper factory setup simply because it didn't originally have them. This isn't the DOT - anything that says DOT approved simply means it won't damage your car or hurt anyone, doesn't mean it's legal. It's the NHTSA, FMVSS 108 if you want to look it up.

I have projector conversions in my Vehicles to keep the hids out of other peoples eyes I use 55w 4500k to keep the lights at the brightest and i dont have a problem with distance. ddmtuning.com

Sylvania Silverstars.

If that's not enough, get a Euro headlight assembly (clearer lenses).

All the yahoos that run HIDs around here I'd like to take my ball peen hammer to their headlights before rapping them upside the head. About all they are good for is blinding other drivers. Other than that, it's just "I'm cool cuz I did HID bulbs in my car." F that.

go here. yes, it may cost a few bucks, but for what it is, its toally worth it. this set up WILL NOT blind other drivers, it will be the brightest of all, yet produce very little glare, probably less than stock Halgoens when aimed properly.

do it right, and you will be amazed at how much better you can see at night.

now im assuming you have a '91. im not sure which projectors would fit in your headlight housings. so you may need a different projector. but the ones i linked to are great price and work amazingly.

id reccomend 35w 6000K
wont be blue, but wont be yellow. will be a nice clean white light,

Those are exactly the type I am talking about. It might seem like it works to you, but you ARE causing people to go crazy in oncoming traffic. The DDM tuning setups are also pretty close to the cheapest garbage on the market. Go look at how a factory HID works, and look at yours. Totally different. All OEM setups use a moving lens these days, not a moving arc, and it's for good reasons. Light pattern, glare, and distance. I hope you don't cause an accident!

Kinda related, to those who state HIDs must be used with projectors.... What about early Acura TLs, older Maximas, Mercedes, etc. Those did not have projector headlights and came with HIDs. Honest question.

It's not that they have to be used with projectors, but that the housing and bulbs need to be designed to work together.

Also why are so many against HIDs? Is it the "blinding factor" to on coming drivers? If aimed properly, it that an issue? People say "you can do it but it is illegal" Seems like a technicality, especially when people do other things that are considered not legal ( certain exhaust mods for example) that dont get as much "hate". Not judging, just curious.

I don't know anything about those vehicles but if they came stock with them the housings must have been designed specifically for use with HID even though they don't use projectors. I seriously doubt they used a regular housing.

Because almost every conversion is done the cheap tacky ricer way. They blind people, look tacked on and chinsy, and look stupid when used with the blue and purple color temperatures. I drive an import now as you can see, and I take it to car shows and am a member of a car club - and the amount of crap I see like this is overwhelming. I figure if I yak about it on an internet forum, I might be saving one of you from having people laugh at you behind your back, or straight up to your face. That and I like to think someone is actually listening and won't do something that can potentially cause an accident. Loud pipes won't make someone blind for a moment at night.

Like stated, because most people do it the cheap way and don't care about other drivers. Those are the dumbasses blinding you at night. if you do it properly, it looks awesome, gives you amazing light output, and doesn't blind anyone.

As for the legality, it's debatable. Lots of people think its illegal, some people thing with projectors they're legal, and some people think they're legal projectors or no projectors.
