I don't know if this helps, but I have a propane auto fuel station nearby..... costs $1.299 a gallon.


I figure it costs 34 cents a gallon to run my CNG jenny.

Off/On the subject....CNG kits are offered for gasoline powered generators (which is a necessity south of Interstate 10--east of west Texas, and west of the East Antilles--(it's the meds))...

anyhow $250 is too much to pay for a conversion kit to put on a generator...

Especially when, being a machinist, I could do it myself in my shed....errr...Test Facility.

As for doing it on a vehicle (Noooo...Mark88...i'm not talking about sex...right now)....

I'm sure ads_ could come up with an inexpensive/safe/cheap plan that I could put into practice.....

you know....just to "(you fill in the blank) with " Exxxxxxon(Im)Mobil/Etc.

I considered buying an OEM equipped CNG F150, as there were 3 for sale when I was in the market. Two of them needed regulators, the other one had just been replaced. I went with the odds there and did not buy one. In fairness, they were all 3 over 100k miles. But these regulators were over a thousand dollars just for the part. To me, that is expensive to maintain.

Boy if that's expensive to maintain for you I'd like to have the rigs you drive. They must be SUPER reliable if you don't even have to spend a thousand bucks every hundred thousand miles in repairs.
I dunno, I think it would be worth it to set aside two dollars every thousand miles to keep your CNG system working right when you save that much with one gallon

My point is not the total smart ass. Compare that figure to the cost of any component on the fuel system of a gasoline vehicle and tell me its not expensive. That single component is as much as a set of tires. Sorry, but that is expensive to maintain compared to a gasoline system on my calculator.

A little adsm08_ engineuity ought to get the price of the CNG Kit down some...I mean--why buy an electric car when the replacement batteries will destroy any fuel savings...(i know....another can of Worms)

running my cng jenny right now......... I am rockin 6 window a/c units to get the temp down to 80F in my house. I only have 100amp service and 6 window units will trip the breakers. My jenny has a 200 amp service so all the window units are plugged into that.

Man! 100 $ a gallon for a CNG tank!!!!!! 16 pounds of iron per gallon of tank!!!! 10 years of service!!!! 120 miles one way (20 miles looking for a CNG station!!!!

Because as of right now, CNG has not been developed into a viable fuel.

cng would not be the type of vehicle to take on a road trip. just local driving and you would fill it from your NG line at your house (if you have NG) with one of these

The single, most expensive part of a CNG vehicle. Then there are 5 types, depending on how lightweight you want it and how deep your pockets go. .

I've been doing some of the research. Its better to buy a vehicle already converted or built for CNG then to convert your own. Unless you want to dump about $5 grand for it.
