EFI conversion question

He can use the 93 cam with an aftermarket roller lifter conversion.
The older block will not work with the stock roller lifters because, IIRC, the lifter bores arent tall enough. The older block also doesnt have the mounting bosses for the "spider".

Can he do this though? He says he has a 93 cam. I couldn't remember if the non-roller blocks would accept a newer roller cam. Snoranger confirms my suspicion in his post. However, I thought you could still use the keepers on the regular or roller block.

It's all good. I was bassackwards in my thinking between the cam and the lifters/hardware.

ok, well it's starting to become a little more in depth than what I have time to take care of in a couple days. Ok can I do this instead. Keep everything that I have currently, current camshaft setup and all, and go with the EFI setup using the 89' mustang upper and lower intake, mustang distributer and mustang wiring harness with mass air that I already have, but use a Ford Bronco ECM out of a 94, a 94 because the 94 bronco with a 302 came with Mass air, and the wiring harness I have for the conversion was for a mass air setup. would that work at all?

Somewhere in the 94 or 95 range, Ford changed the firing order for even non-ho 302's to the 351 firing order.

opps, check that, I found that the 5.0's 94 and after bronco's were HO's as well, So instead of that how about a ECM from a 91-93 5.0 thunderbird. According to oldfuelinjection.com the 91-93 thunderbirds with comp codes J0TC, L1C, P3M, OR X2P These are supposed to be mass air non-ho with standard 302 firing order, will one of these work?

You could use the HO 'stang set-up with a non-HO cam by changing the injector firing order to follow the cams firing order. You would have to lengthen a few of the wires but thats not a big deal.

AH, yes. The problem would be with the o2 sensors. It wouldnt know that you changed some of the wires from bank to bank. You'd have a problem there.

Simplest, most cost effective way of using the Mustang EFI on your '79 302 is to find/buy a flat tappet cam with the 351/H.O. firing order. There are a zillion available, you could even use a stock 351 piece.

As the guys have mentioned, you cannot simply swap the injector order, as the they will switch banks of the engine, and the feedback from the O2 sensors will be incorrect.
Some of the trucks up to the mid 90's remained batch fire, as were some of the older cars.

Keep at it, you can certainly do this affordably.

ok, so the stock 351's were non-roller? I'll check into that, sounds like the easiest quickest way at this point.
