We are swapping a complete TTB front suspension from a 91-94 Explorer 4x4 into my son's 89 ranger ext (there is a long story as to the why, but we found a guy that pulled it off his Explorer to swap in f/s Bronco gear). The tie rods on the Explorer are pretty worn, but the Ranger tie rods are essentially brand new.

Will the Ranger tie rods/drag link/etc. work with the Explorer knuckles? What about using the Ranger Drag Link and Inner Tie Rod, but replacing the Explorer outers?

If it makes a difference, the suspension has a James Duff Stage II lift.

from what i know about those years of exploreres they are the same as 89-97 Rangers. Double check p/n through O'reillys or Auto zones web site.

if the 89 has a dana28 you will need different inner tie rods. The outer are the same but the inners are a different length since it had the dana35.

They said there swapping the COMPLETE TTB, so that wont matter.

Yes it will....if his 89 was a D28 his tie rods won't work on the 91-94 explorer TTB. He was asking if he could use the steering from the 89 on the explorer axle he is swapping in.

I FORGOT ABOUT THE TIE RODS HE WANTED TO SWAP, Sorry about that & the cap lock being on.

Thanks for the feedback. The swap went well, and we even gained some additional lift (now the rear needs to catch up). Feels good to have the truck back on the road again!!
