Just a quick question....I have a 94 ranger 4.0,4wd,stx,super,auto. When it's cold,it shifts from 1rst to 2nd at about 35mph...It does this for the first two complete cycles 1rst through overdrive. After that it pretty much shifts normally. I installed this heavy duty utility remanufactured trans.,from transmission exchange, about 3 months ago. I also r&r'd a remanfactured 4.0 long block from pro-built 2 months ago. The tranny has shifited like this since installation. What should my vacuum be at the vacuum modulator on the back of the tranny and could this be the modulator itself....

you can turn the allen screw thats on the modulator in to get firmer quicker shifts but only do it at like quarter turns at a time, but if i were you i would replace it, they are only bout $15

Does it do it when you arent driving around in O/D?

Try not to unless you are going over 55mph and no real inclines.
