Starting my first Job!

My first official job was at Hogle Zoo behind a cash register in a concession stand. That was back when you had to know basic math skills to qualify for the position. I made a whopping $3.85 an hour even though minimum wage was $4.25 because they were "training me". That BS didn't last long.

I actually had an unofficial first job. I say this because I wasn't on the actual payroll, but did get paid for maintenance type things. My Grandfather owned a little pharmacy/convenience store/snack bar when I was a wee lad, and that's where it all started. I am ever so thankful for that job and the work ethic it gave me.

Gosh, my first real job was working in a hockey equipment factory where my BIL was the manager...it was quite a bit of slugging...unloading trailers of hockey pucks...stocking and filling orders...I was a natural though...lol

The pay back then was $1.00 an hour...I worked 44 hours a week and sometimes OT...but most of my pays for the summer were $44...no tax because I was a student...

One of the first things I bought with my first check...after I paid off my coffee truck tab...was a purple shirt...lol...those were the days...cash in my pocket, new duds...and all the crappy coffee I could drink.

I think the guy on the coffee truck collected pee from the construction workers to make the coffee...it was horrid...but the nearest coffee shop was about a half hour walk...ahhhh...memories...may be beautiful and yet...

I did the restaurant job thing back in my youth. I did a lot of other jobs, too. It took all of my time from right after school to midnight to pay for the car I could barely drive because I was always at work. And I grew up to be an idiot because I never had time for school because I was always working so I could drive a car.

Me too! I fell asleep in class a lot :iamwithstupid:

(It's a joke People...It's a J-O-K-E ! )

Oh, is that what this icon is for ----> ?

:icon_rofl:

Hmmmm...frothy...been eating a bit too much yeast...lol

But that's a good idea...I think...make a man's pee cup...not a pick up...but something for the man cave that doesn't have a toilet...it'd probably sell millions...something with a little lid and a "DO NOT DRINK" warning label...:icon_rofl:

well, I get all the free conoli's I want!

Congrats on the job. I did that with Papa Johns from 99-02. I made decent money. I delivered, made pizzas and eventually became the assistant general manager. It can be good money but the hours are LONG. Remember all work and no play makes Lip a dull boy.

Sent from the front seat of my Ranger while sitting in traffic.

You mean you did urine analysis & made ice cream sodas ???? :icon_rofl:

I too did the food service industry for a while as a kid. It's a good place to start, just don't eat all the profits. Good luck to you Kipp!

Well lets see, Ill share my first income for those interested, I got 375 roughly for 46 hours of work. 100 to my account, the rest to the government and the savings.
