4 dr gen 1 ranger

Its probly been talked about a million times but I can get an extra cab for cheap and thought about making one.The big question is... am I crazy to try something like this?

Crazy? Yes, but then again, who is normal? Are you wanting to make a 4 door ex-cab like the newer rangers? Or a full 4 door crew cab like the newer over seas rangers but a 1st gen? I know I'd like to take the rear door section of a early explorer out and make a full 4 door 1st gen ranger. Of course on a F-series frame. Just to show that it can be done. To bad I have about 5 other projects that need to take priority.

Where there is a will there is a way. Try it, if you could do it, it sure would be a cool truck. I would use an extended cab chassis, the back door area from a 1st gen. explorer for the back doors, then when the cab was done I'd shorten up a bed to put back on it. Oh Yeah, and most important of all, I'd post plenty of pics. during the process for everybody on TRS, hint hint.

It has been done before but on the lowered style rangers I could only find one pic in my computer of one of them to give you an idea of what it would look like. Then you can photoshop it to a 4x4.

It does require lots of work and if you are a decent welder that is a major plus in one of these builds.

no guess work there. look at the front window. a decent photo shop. but if you have fab skills and the right tools it could be done

If you already have an extended cab you can mount the new cab with the rear access doors on it. It will take some mod skills and some time but you can do it. Can you weld?

Yes I can weld but if I'm going that far why wouldn't I just make it a crew cab?

I would think it would be easier to graft a Gen1 front end onto a newer cab with 4 doors

you could run 1st gen doors , hood , front fenders and grill , then graft the outter cab sides (aka from the cab corner up to almost the roof ) , from a 1st gen onto the newer cab , and sooner or later it would look correct , it would be kind of like thoses glue on body kits that some companys make to change the styleing of the body on certain cars like mazda miatas , ect , only this would be totally custom work and would be a weld on deal
