?'s regarding shackles, greasable bolts and leafs

Hello,
l recently sold a Jeep Wrangler for a sweet deal on a 94 4x4 Ranger. l was a Previous Ranger owner and sold it for the Jeep and now picked up a new one. l have been looking into a few addons from my Jeep that l liked and trying to use integrate them for use on my Ranger. l have a few questions regarding the rear suspension on the Rangers

1) l have read about the Chevy shackle and using them for lift, my question is has anyone fabbed their own shackles and had success? The reason l ask is l would like to get rid of the rear blocks and replace it with an extended shackle and greasable bolts (discussed in question #2). If so could you post some pics, l would appreciate it

2) Does anyone run greasbale bolts and bushings out back to help smooth out the ride? This was an option in my Jeep that was one of the best add ons in my opinion. l was wondering if anyone has run these with any success or can give me themeasurements of the bolts for the hangers and shackles. l have a distributor, but need the bolt size to pick them up.

3) Other than the Chevy springs, what are other options out back? l am unable to measure my springs as l sit here, but was wondering if it is a possibility to run early Toyota leafs or Wrangler leafs on a Ranger? l couldnt find any writeups on the net or site, which leads me to beleive they are either different lengths than Ranger, or different width wise... any thoughts?

Just offhand, the ranger leafs are 57" iirc, and wrangler leafs (yj) are 44", But I'm not sure about the yota leafs. Another option I was thinking was Durango leafs. They are spring under, so they have a nice arch to them, but thin leafs that would flex well. Not sure on the length of them either though.

only thing i can suggest is get to a junkyard and go buckwild with ur tape measure.

but 2nd gen yota springs 79-85 will not provide lift on a ranger do to how much more a ranger weighs then that of a toyota, however, if they measure the same eye to eye and width and centerbolt, u could probably acquire some slightly bigger lift springs for a toyota, they will net almost the same amount of lift on the ranger and will probably flex like nobodys business

You can run explorer springs, or play around with combining leafs from an explorer and ranger packs. You should gain an inch or 2 just from the exploder leafs alone. add some bell tech chevy 2" lowering shackles and gain another 1.5". Combining leafs again will get you a bit more. What lift height are you looking for?

l would like to get rid of the blocks in the back, two inches l believe

You should be able to get that, if not a little more, from exploder leafs, and shackles or mixing exploder leafs with the rangers.

explorer leaf and add a leaf, will give u a nice ride, wont have to run a block, and wont have to run a shackle

you are correct, toyota springs werent just built todo what toyota guys like todo, my old yota had some 4" chebby springs in the back

Yeah, that is an option that l have looked into. But they provide 3" of lift is what l have read... a little more than l am looking for.

just run the explorer leafs with a addaleaf, prolly wont cost u anymore then $50 to get this setup done assuming ur local junkyard dont try to rape u, and u can picup a addaleaf from most autoparts stores for like $20
