My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
you forget how shit goes sometimes....

one of my daughters, madisyn, basically twisted up the last of what was left of the innards of my passenger side...oem door earlier in the year.

for the last 10 or so years they were what i called pretend doors....because....they were bottomless for the most part :D hell my summer tube doors are stouter really.. then my little sister ripped off the shock mounts hammering the hell out of it... and a few other minor things which resulted in the cab mounts having some new issues....

seems these things all conspire together...

well a friend of mine needed me to transport his 11 year old as he was held up and couldnt make it. i was already at the school picking up my son...

so i was headed down the road with him and he was frightened because he thought the door wasnt closed:icon_confused:....i assured him it was fine....i shoved on the door...and pulled on it....it was solid...i had just put the thing on there and its never been better...save for it being brown:icon_confused:

he was not satisfied....so i asked him to roll down the window and pull the mirror in so i could see the body line better.....after a minute or so i figured out he could not roll down the window because there was no button.:icon_surprised::icon_surprised:

this really made me laugh..an 11 year old that never seen a crank window????:shok::shok: i realized he only has known 01 or newer silverados at this point.. which made me think and appreciate many other issues..

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

anyway

this happened awhile back. but the legendary story it spawned just got back to me from his dad. you would have thought he was riding on the hood at 90 mph...:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

well driving in the snow recently clarified what now seems a legitimate complaint from the young ladd. i forgot i would have to "fit" the real door to my "custom" cab....:annoyed: i knew there was some space as i glanced it....

but i really got a look at it and it is much worse then i originally assessed...

seems to fit good considering the time it has seen wheels up....

but i forgot about this part of the deal:D

whoops:icon_twisted:

poor kid.....i told his dad to get an ol cj and drive the kid around in that for a spell......toughen him up....

throw the video games away and take them wheelin or dirt biking or something:icon_thumby:

so after looking at this ugly fawker...i really am considering rattle canning it after i patch up the frame....then hopefully work on the bed a little.....

what do your doors look like?:D

thank ya sir.

yeah mine's not a major wheeler tho... if i was wheeling it a lot, i'm sure it wouldn't be this nice. i will wheel it occasionally but only for what a locked 8.8 open d35 and 33" at's will do... well, i will probably stop long before the truck would... :icon_surprised::icon_rofl:

yeah, you drive it more then sensibly...

also, i am glad you kept the striping.. it is tasteful and unique. great look with the wheels.

now post up something you intentionally hated the sheet metal with:D

um.. don't think i have any pics here of the ole yota i had.... haha

mine WAS straight, until this happened...

Mostly straight again, not quite ready to have it super beat up yet... Only straight panel right now is the hood (somehow) after rolling on one occasion and tipping it on it's side once...

this is the worst i've done to mine, hit black ice and slammed in to the concrete barrier on the highway a couple years ago

you cant see it that well but the whole corner is pushed in on like a 45* angle

i was more in the line of "shit you drive every day" boggin.....didnt look like you were driving those things to work every day...or to school to get the kids.

i'm a hip hop dance/ stripper instructor... didn't ya know?

nah, jk... that place was next door to my work. but they were only open from like 7-10pm and since we close at 6pm i parked in front of their place to save our parking for our customers.

The first thing that needs attention is that DS mirror... :icon_twisted:

One thing about the power windows, these trucks are not getting any younger. It is weird to think back, when I got my '85 in high school it was already considered pretty old at the ripe old age of 15. Early to mid 90's were pretty common for any make in the high school parking lot. A 15 year old truck now is a '96... which was four years old when I got mine. '96's are far more likely to have such luxuries as power windows and doors as an '85... and if the ratios are still the same are just on the "old" side of things to kids getting their licenses now.

Time marches on

It would seem it affected your alignment too... :D

My doors are "alright" They close pretty decent although once in awhile the DS will pop open to the first detent (that annoying stage where it isn't shut and it isn't open) They have what is probably a normal amount of door dings for a 27 year old truck... very well may be the only major body panels that will remain when I repaint it.

nope alignment was fine all i did was mess up that corner, thats either from me turning or driving almost on top of someone else's tracks

didn't realize thats what you were aiming for since you posted a pic of your wheeler.. and i am still in disbelief that she is actually allowed to be on the public roadways.. lol no offence, i really love your truck. but the fact that its permitted on the road is beyond me. silly canada with our stuipid rules
