front sheet metal swap?

I was curious to know if anybody had ever thought of trying to swap the front clip from a 98+ ranger and putting it on an older truck. mine is a 97 and i just like the headlights bumper and grill of the newer ones. i know the sheet metal is 3 inches longer on the 98+ trucks but i didn't know if it was plausible to put the other parts on the older front clip? any thoughts or other ideas are appreciated

have you looked at josh's? he's got an 04 front clip on a 94 or something like that.
