Anyone have any tricks on getting rid of wasps?

Well, I'm going to order a couple of those Waspinator things and see what happens. (I'm actually going to see if I can get one at Lowes before I order).

I opened my barbecue/gas grill last night, and there were two nests started in there. I knocked one out on the 4th of July when I used the grill. I do know they hate propane. If I turn the propane on for just a moment, they come flying out of there.

I've had the yard all torn up for a few weeks with tearing out fences, dirt, etc. in preparation for concrete. Now the dust has settled (literally) from that project, I've started getting after these damn wasps.

I put the fake nest thing up last night finally. I also took out 4 wasp nests between Saturday and Sunday. I found one more in the leg of my Gas Grill that I can't really get to. They are getting in the holes in the leg.

Hopefully this fake nest will deter these little pricks from creating their damn nests all over my yard.

try moth balls. I use them in my deer blinds to keep 'em out. They eventually go away and you're left with the smell of gramma's house

try spraying brake clean in the holes on the grill leg, or the wasp killer stuff

I've always liked starting fluid and a zippo lighter.

No it doesn't kill them instantly but "Mobility kill" is usually just as good

a tiny bit of non-persistant fire and they lose their wing skins and the ability to fly...
they usually think they can still fly, but usually do so straight down...

One time I was working at a hotel for a summer doing maintenance, and over the radio came a frantic call for help - there was a wasp nest where people were trying to eat breakfast. All I could find was an almost empty can of wasp killer and a full can of spray glue - I took 'em both up with me. I shot the nest with the glue first, then got right up to it and used what little wasp killer I had. It worked! None of the ones that lived flew away to tell about it, they got glued to the ground when they fell or glued in place!

I've actually used 3M Super77 to kill them at work. It works better than wasp killer spray but it leaves one hell of a mess. They drop so fast when you hit them with glue. The nest I hit was loaded with them so too. I torched it after the fun with the glue. Super77 is indeed flammable.

Black Flag Wasp & Hornet Killer. Reaches 20 feet and kills on contact. Reaches the eaves on my house where they like to build. I pull down the remnants of the nest and kill any new ones before they can build much of a nest. In the last few years they've moved and I haven't found any. Now its spiders...

I've found a few of these little buggers in the past week. The first ones I found just so happened to be while the Terminix guy was at my house. He had no idea what they were. I think it looks like a cross between a cockroach and a wasp. This makes me wonder if it is a wasp or a relative. Does anyone know what the hell it is??

Not sure why, but I have a lot of Yellow Jackets(smaller ones) out in the backyard. I did place some soda pop in pans to keep them at bay, only it's not working. They are landing on me & pain in ass to shoo them off. Any ideas to divert their attention elsewhere ?
Not big on eliminating them either since November cold will kill them-

The best bait we have found to put in the bee trap is bacon. I know everyone loves bacon, so do the carniverous bees.

You can use a trap as described previously or a bit bigger one, be sure to fill it fairly full with water dish soap mix, hang a nice juicy strip of bacon inside. The little buggers are so greedy thay will cut off more than they can fly with and fall into the water, end of story. I have used as big a a 5 gallon pail for that.

Ground bees get a dose of saw gas, diesel and a match, be sure its safe to light fire, been to more than one wildfire from "smoking out bees". Just did this last week after disturbing a, fortunately small, ground nest of jackets. They stung my wife, cat and me, death to the flying bastads!!

I also will use the hose to wet 'em down if the nest is hanging high on the house or something, you just have to hit 'em fast and soak it well.

Years ago at a remote fire station I saw the guys throwing clods at this large pine tree. Upon closer inspection there was a very large hornet nest plastered to the side of the tree. Told them someone is gonna get stung, well they kept up, later I see the capt with a ice cube to the forehead.
I ask, "get stung?" he says "no, bumped my head". Next morning he shows up earlier that usuall, no biggie, then we hear BAHWOOM!!!! Go running out to see him walking back to put the double barrel back in his truck. End of hornets. A bit extreme but effective . . .

Attack those critters with the vengance they would give you!
