I'm not extremely well versed in the modular motors yet, and was hoping for some guidance.
I'm looking at a 97 F-150 that has 200,000 miles on the truck itself. The guy says Ford replaced the motor and trans as a warranty item at 100,000 miles. The VIN shows it as a Windsor, and the new motor also says Windsor on the valve cover. It also says 4.6 Triton on the plenum cover, which I'd never heard of. Until now, I thought all of the 4.6's were made at the Romeo plant. It runs good, and seems to have every bit as much power as the 5.4's I've driven.
So now, my questioning. Are they the same? Is one better than the other? By the VIN, can I tell when/if the motor was indeed replaced? He says Ford also replaced the trans at the same time. Would this be true?
Thanks guys!!
