Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Kyle, I got a tech question for ya...When you flexed your front axle out, did you happen to measure what angle your axle was at, at full flex?? I only have about 40 degrees before my shocks will hit the mounts and I don't know if I will have enough (trying to skip from having to assemble it only to pull it back apart to clearance)...

Sorry, thought I got back to you with this. No I didn't measure the angle. I just made it so I could fully flex it both ways as I set it up, then used limit straps to hold em back a little. If I were you I would just clear your shock mounts so you can fully flex, you have them built where you can do that (axle side right?) Oh, and something else I read in your build, you were concerned that your shocks were shorter than you thought, well they have an internal spring in them that keeps them from fully extending when they are not charged, so they will get about an inch longer or so when you charge them, fully extended. SO that may be why they look shorter?

good luck :icon_thumby:

Got a little update, picked up some more parts

Got a complete 14 bolth with 4.10's, might use that one instead of the other one I have. I got a set of hubs so I can swap out my dually hubs on my 60, anyone need a set of dually hubs? I also got a C6 tranny to replace the C4 so I can run a better T case, trying to source a 205 right now. One last thing, I yanked the motor out of the stang so I just gotta get a few new parts for the swap and I am ready to go. Getting closer!

wooh! lol

this is what the 3rd rebuild in a year? i actually think i may re read this thread... im bored today

Thanks, Kyle. With my axle level, I have 49 degrees one way, and 51 degrees the other way, on the shock (roughly giving me 40 degrees of flex) I can notch the link bracket to give me more flex if I need to. When I get it assembled I will look at it then and see if I need to clearance it...Now get that thing torn apart :icon-thumby:

well i re read it... i noticed you have quite a few things that were planned and nver happened.

you still planning on an exo and what all happened to you making the one piece doubler shafts? you had alot of ppl wanting them.

also... i thought it was funny there were many posts by you about how you dont need a v8 and one tons and you wernt going to them, so much for that lol

LOL! OK, here's the skinney

I still plan on a cage of some sort, just hard to spend the money on something I don't need to wheel.

The doubler idea went out when I switched to auto, I still may make a doubler, but not a 1350/54 version.

OK, tons and v8, LOL although I always thought it would be cool to have them I never wanted to invest in them. But since I crashed my car and chose to use that motor, you can't have a v8 without tons, and I found a good deal on tons. Just evolution of the wheeling to has effected it also.

Yea figured as much haha just was interesting knowing your switching to a v8 and one tons then reading the old posts saying you wernt going to go that way

Lies, you started hanging out with "onetonthrills offroad" and peer pressure is a bitch:icon_rofl: besides you picked up the 14 bolt BEFORE the mustang was totalled:idiot:

I may be interested in a shaft if you do plan on making some.
