no power steering

We got a 98 2.5 that we are going to race this year and thinking about unhooking the power steering pump.Have any of you guys had a bad pump and had to run it without it?I know the older ones with a box steered hard,but what about one with a rack?

I'm really not sure on rack and pinion, but I'd imagine that you'd have the same problem. And I'm not sure if there was a "manual steering" rack.

Yes,I have been looking for a manual rack that will cross to the ranger,anybody ran across one?Might have to run it without the pump.

If you can't find a non P/S gearbox look for a larger pully for the pump to slow it down. Try March pullies
