Car-seat in Ranger?

I have always believe front seat car seats are not a good idea, not really sure if they are illegal in Pennsylvania though, but thats still not going to work against me, I wont put one in the fron seat.

I am getting an extended cab first gen and wanted to a place to put a car seat for a young child, and I know the back seats in the ranger's wont work.

Anybody ever try this? Do anything about this?

I was planning on going camping next summer, and will need a car-seat of some kind for a 3rd passenger to go with us. It has a split bench (60/40?) with a fold down arm rest.

My daughter (6) quite often sits in the jump seats. They aren't much different than a booster seat. And sometimes she sits in the booster up front. My truck is drivers side airbag only.

We had a pretty bad snow storm this last winter. I had to take my wife to the emergency room; otherwise we would have never left the house. But I didn't trust our Escape (front wheel drive only), so I finagled my youngest daughters (16 months old at the time) car seat into fitting on one of the jumper seats, and my oldest daughter sat on the other jumper. It was cozy.

I love the thing to death, but it doesn't have a crap ton of room inside.

I guess you could do it but it's perfectly fine to put them in the front on a truck w/o air bags. Thats why some trucks have a slot where you can use a key to turn off the air bag.

I do it almost daily with my '87. The seat is secure and he is secure so I know my 4 month old son is perfectly safe.
