What do i need to swap the 8.8 in, I read that it is 3" wider, so would i have to replace anything? Also, what would i need to convert the brakes to disk brakes, and would the driveshaft i have right now work, or would that have to be replaced too? If someone that has done the swap already could tell me, i'd greatly appreciate it!

wow man. SEARCH!
there's even a write up in the tech library i think.. did you look around?

basically, flip the perches, weld on shock tabs, disc brakes can be grabbed off a 97 or so ex, just swap backing plates out, wider? don't think so..., driveshaft- depends on what driveshaft you use

but SEARCH! see that search button at the top? you can find so much info for this swap. its been talked about so many times.

TRS has a search feature. wow, what technology. :D
and the way he worded it, i thought he wanted to put a 7.5 in a ex.

that's what i first thought.. and i kinda freaked a second.. :icon_rofl:

the disc brake stuff just swaps over

as for axle, an explorer is sprung under (that sounds wierd) while a b2 is a spring over. you just need to weld new spring perches on top of the axle as well as new shock tabs. ruffstuff makes a kit for around $120 or you can buy it all individually here and there (that's what i did)

the pinion flange on an 8.8 is bigger than that of a 7.5, you can drill out the holes to get it to work

check out the tech library though, it has some good info on the swap

'95 and up Ex 4 door and Ex sport rears are disc. The first year Sport Trac is drum('01?), after that they went to disc.

I did search for a little bit, but it's easier to just post here. Thanks for the info btw
