My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
finally siped mine today.....dangerous as hell in the snow on the roads till they were siped. downright scary tire before that.

i needed them so i can easily cruise 70 + freeway at a sane rpm for my 6.5 to deal with. my 33 and 35's were just out of range these are perfect for cruise rpm.

but in stock condition its got to suck driving anything with them on in the snow.

i have had civilian versions years ago that seemed to work ok but my truck was still close to being an actual ranger back then. so i was really taken by surprise when i couldnt stop and could barely control my rig in the snow lately.

overall i like them and plan to buy more in the future unless i get a cost effective 40-50 percent od trans.

on the road, the hummer's were a bear to drive. wandered everywhere and terrible on wet/slick roads. off road, they were fine if your trail was wide enough. i suspected the tires were a lot of the problem, but the chassis felt different after driving the old m151's with their similar independent coil suspension. the m151's were actually fun to drive. but, the hummers got the job done, and still do for the most part.

i used to drive the 151 alot..(looks like a jeep but hummer type susp and parachute/crane point hubs?)..had one in the barn for two years at a place i rented and allowed to use it. big fun.

for sure these oz tires are spooky in the wet....actually worse then my boggers. but ok like the boggers when siped.

there is an ebay seller who sells the 37x12.50-16.5 goodyears from hummers with more than half tread for $620 shipped for a set of 5. i was going to buy a set until every person i asked said they suck.......

yeah, with as cheap as these tires are, i have been wondering how well they work.

i am planning on getting re-centered h1 rims for my b2, and running 37's.

as a second option, it looks like treadwright is re-treading hummer casings in a more familiar mud-terrain pattern

They are designed for heavy vehicles, and they handle like it. They NEED to be grooved to work on anyting under 10k lbs, and in reality they're a great towrig tire but not much good for actually wheeling with.

I've actually had better success with the michelin 11.00R16's and 325/85R16's then I have the Goodyear stuff, even back with the old MT's and the RT II's.

I always wanted to get the 37 goodyears or 11.00R16 for my M1008 CUCV before I traded it. They look super badass on those old Chevys with minimal lift. And you them when you have a 6.2 with 3spd and 4.56 gears if you wanna go over 60-65mph and wanna run less than 3500rpm :icon_surprised:

were you asking about the goodyears or the narrow-as-hell michelins?

He's talkin the good years, the michelins are actually a 38/39 depending on tread depth.

the hummer tires are garbage, period, as someone whose job it was to work on them everyday i can certainly say they were the worst idea possible lol

we took them off and put a set of 38.5 tsl sx's onto our yard hummer lol tell u what man makes a stock hummer in the mud look like a joke lol

hummers are nice on trails, esp with the 6.5 turbo diesel loli can run most trails out here at 65ish with a hummer and not miss a beat

i have a 4l80 and 410 and still need them with the 6.5 to cruise happy.

i have retrieved many stuck rigs with these and on the overall they work good. dry road is good as well.

just horrible in the snow/ice on the road or when wet.

siping made them worth the price. definitely will buy more, and would have run the winterized retreads if the shipping wasnt retarded on them:shok:

i was just hoping to see another ext cab daily drivering them for comparison. though i am 6 k at cruise weight.:icon_confused:

my brother's runnin these on his K-5 and they do allright. nothing to brag about as a tsl with 3/4 tread would prolly do about as good as them. however they are tough as nail's and seem to wear like iron. but talk bout a heavy and stiff tire. however he paid 400 bone's for 5 tire's with what seem's to me as full tread. about 1 inch IIRC. and they tower over my 37x14.5 irok's ide buy them if i came across a 5x5.5 bolt 16.5 wheel

i seen jester has them too.

i have 15 k on them and they are just wiping the sipes off

no rotation never finished siping the fronts:D

300 bux for four of them.

but one is a wobbly piece of shit and the main reason not rotated.

Pros:
Cheap
Wears like iron, great for a DD rig
Good all around tire

Cons:
They wander, requires constant steering input
Absolutely suck in the snow
16.5" Rim

I love them, like bobby said, they suck in the snow though. They're not too bad in the rain, all-right in the mud, great on dry dirt and rocks.
They tend to wander on the street, but they ware like iron, so I think it's a fair trade off. Easily a 40,000 mile tire, great for a daily driven rig in the dry season.

well i am on my fifth set including some civi gsa's

ummmm. well they are cheap:dunno:
