Anybody got any ideas or comments about converting an automatic shift from the column to the floor, and what I will need?

Click the check box by the pics you want, then at the lower right hand side of the screen there is a "generate____code" click that, then use either the box that is for fullsized pics, or the box that is for thumbnails to the large pic.

correct, 83-88 Rangers with the auto had floor shifters. They were basically the same as aerostars, but the shifter on the aerostar is much longer.

1st and 2nd generation rangers use the same auto transmissions so one would guess that you could make the floor shifter work.

Yup, go to the junkyard, grab the shifter and ALL of the linkage, and the floor plate too if it's removable.

you will also need the shifter arm off of the transmission too. the column shift uses a cable to shift where as the others use rods to shift and they clip onto the transmission differently too one is on top the other is on the bottom

B&M truck megashifter in mine. Hooked to the A4LD. Required a different floor plate that I built out of 1/8" steel as the factory one was way too thin. Turned out nice.

Ya, I think a floor shift is easier to go through the gears, like up or down a hill or from drive to overdrive, stuff like that. Are these A4LD's as bad as the rap they get?
