  • Sorry so late in returning this. I haven't been on in a long time, life has been keeping me pretty busy.

    I had 3.45 to start with the 5-speed. I was running a 28" tall tire with them and my gas mileage sucked. The 4.10's actually improved my MPG because they keep the truck in the proper power band. I never got to use 5th gear like you should be able to until the swap. I say go for it, it's not really a dramatic change from the 3.73's but you should notice a nice improvement.

    hey bro i read in you sig that you installed a 4.10 rear. i have been considering this swap as well. my only conscerns are that i spend probably 70 % of my time on the interstate running 70 plus. i currently have 3.73. i dont know were you started but how did this affect your fuel millage and how much higher dose that put you revs at 70 to 80 mph. i plan on installing an exhaust system shortly ,and i would hate to drone out my radio because my gears have me reving to high. btw i have a 97 2.3l
