I have a 1991 extra cab ranger with a 2.3l that I swapped a 4x4 trans into in hopes for a dana 30 swap but that fell thru. I also have a 1988 4x4 extra cab frame sitting lifted with a 8.8 and gears that I'd like to swap with the 91 frame. Can some one please explain to me what the differences...

hey I need some confirmation on swap I am about to start. I have a 1991 2.3L 2wd (m50d-r1) that I want to convert to a 4x4 trans, my donor trans is outta a 91 4.0 4x4 (m50d-r1). are the internals the same between the two and would just swapping the tail shaft and extension housing be my answer...
