Anyone else notice what a PITA these vents are?

Talking about the passenger side vents on Gen-II and early Gen-III RBV's.

I recently replaced my broken passenger side vents. I broke the little tabs off trying to get the replacements off my parts explorer, AND when I removed the old ones on my Ranger. I glued the good ones into the dash, just to get them in.

Have these just gotten old & brittle? This just the way they are? or am I going about this in the wrong way?

The superglue holds them in tight, and snugly, and I can remove them if needed, but is there a better way to install them?

Small flathead jewelers-type screwdrivers generally work good to pry the tabs back from the inside while removing it. It still doesn't seem to completely remove the risk of breaking them though (IIRC, a couple of mine are held in with 3 tabs :icon_twisted: ).

I just don't think they are made to be removed.

I tried using small screwdrivers, etc.

I'll just have to stick with glue or silicon....

are you talking about the defroster vents or the moveable dash vents?

The two identical dash vents on the passenger side.
