I recently removed the bed to refurbish the frame of my vehicle, and I noticed a thick steel wire cable that is bolted to the under side of the cab and wrapped around the mid-frame cross member. I also must have disconnected one end of the cable at some point but I can't remember when I did that. Does anyone know what this cable is and what it's used for, and also how the other end reconnects? Thanks

those are seat belt anchor bolts the cable is attached to.
the other end of the cable attaches to the missing bolt in the cage-looking thingie.
I'm not sure if they give added strength to the floor, or are intended to cut you in half if the body separates from the frame in a collision. :icon_surprised:

Thank you very much, that must be correct. Someone else said that the cable is there just in case the floor pan should rot/rust out which wouldn't hold seat belts in a crash, and the strap (wrapped around the cross member) would then be holding down the seat belts. I recently took out the driver seat and removed a seat belt bolt, so that must be why the other side of the cable disconnected.
